I own a Tamiya TG10 (this is a gas tourer). I have noticed that the steering has a few millimetres of play. I have also noticed this on other RC's aswell.

Does anybody have any tips for minimizing the amount of play in the steering? I have looked around at mine and everything seems to be nice and tight. Is this just something that is characteristic of RC cars?

Any help appreciated.

well u'll pretty much always have some play on cars steering getting a high torque servo will help plenty and you could modify the servo hook up but thats only if its really bad like mine wuz my TLO1 had so much play at high speed it would swerve back and forth very fast but it REALLY lowered my top speed so i did a few modifications and it seems to be ok now cya

I hope you don't talk like you type...

Anyway, to get rid of some of the play, put washers on the step screws (the black screws that go into upper suspension arms and stuff, and tighten all the way. Then unscrew them just a little bit, until the arm is free to move. This helped get rid of a lot of slop on my TA03.

Every R/C I have seen has play in the steering. Whether it's in the servo or just loose fitting ball cups, everyone has the same problem. It only matters how much play there is. Only fix I can think of is getting RRP octagon ball cups with the setscrews in the top.

Cool, thanks for the tips. I'll give them a go.
