Oh well, it was worth a shot, but too many immature users to continue "rating" system

I was hoping the rating system could be used in a positive manner, to indicate maybe the weight that should be given to someone's advice, or how helpful they might be, etc. It appears too many users are trying to use the rating system as some form of infantile "payback" when anyone says something not consistent with their own position. Most have used it responsibly, but it unfortunately doesn't take too many to ruin what could have been a added value feature.

It is a shame, but I know where you are coming from. I think it was a great idea though as a way to measure credibility, but it only takes a few immature users to ruin it for everyone. keep up the great work on the board.

That should have been expected, Steve. There is no way to stop that from happening, and it's kind of obvious that someone would have abused it. Not saying everyone here is immature or whatever, but you just have to expect it. I didn't think a rating was a good idea anyway. It kind of sets some people above others, and it could go to some people's heads.

its pathetic that people on this board do stupid stuff to get great privleges taken away. i was enjoying the rating system. I had a good rate. i gave nearly every one i chatted with a nice rating. But it only takes a few to screw it up for every one else...
