I'm just getting started in RC planes and see that 72MHz receivers come in high and low band. I understand that this is channels 11-35 for low band and 36-60 for high band. Is there an advantage of one band over the other? Are transmitters also separated like this, or just receivers?
Thanks,
Andy

Hi Andy,
There is no advantage with one end of the band over the other. Most manufacturers do not want to swap crystals in a high band set to a low band because it can upset the tuning. This applies both to transmitters as well as receivers, especially to the high end receivers reffered to as double tuned. Generally, if you are going to fly with a club, it is well to check with them to see which channels are the least used.

The only radio maker that I know of that follows this high band/low band distrinction is Futaba. All the others offer their receivers to operate anywhere in the 50 channels.
