I was wondering if anybody knew the maker of a hobby grade off-road dirtbike. I think that it would be coool to see a r/c dirtbike on the local rc track. Thanks. God Bless!

I'm pretty sure they do not exist. I know there are a few companies that make the on road bikes, but not the motocross bikes.

Unless they have training wheels, an R/C mx bike would be physically impossible.

Not if you used Gyros.

Gyros are Marvelous little wonders. :D

actually the MX bike from Radio Shack is a pretty good starting point. I've removed the stock electronics and replaced them with a modified motor and ESC and it does quite well. It's based on an Alum. frame pretty much standard size hobby equip. throughout

we have a chain of stores over here verry much like radioshack and they sell a jeromy mcgrath RC dirt Bike it has them gyro thingys and its actually pretty stable..
it goes up gutters and stuff pretty easily..
Its not hobby grade though..
It would be intersting to see a Hobby grade one for sure...:)

All i can say is the dirtbike idea wouldnt work exept for on a flat and wide track. If you hit a jump more than likely you will not land it.

People also said you couldn't backflip a real dirtbike, but look at what the motocross guys are doing now! I bet you could stick the landing on one of the little bikes if the suspension could handle it!

No info on it, just found pictures. Looks custom. If you wanted to make one where could you get tires?

I'd buy a production version roller for $250, it looks like fun. That would be great to rip across grass.

The tires are more than likely custom. And id like to know what that guy thaught of that. Its too unstable to drive IMO

Now that looks pretty swift... but the frame could use a lil more work... seems a bit too tall...

I guess it depends on what you consider hobby grade, as far as radio shack bike is concerned. For me if it has replaceable upgradeable parts from other manufacturers, as well as idividual components that can be disassembled repaired and or modified, unlike X-Mods that you can only buy Radio Shack so-called upgrades. I mean, one could replace the bushings with bearings the pinion, motor, servo, even the shocks (rear anyway) that's as good as most "beginner level hobby-class" vehicles get. Sure it has a hard plastic shell versus polyc. but there are several other vehicles in the hobby that comes with those. As far as sticking jumps yes you can I've done it and due to the gyro in the rear wheel if you do "fall" it's easy to get back up. go to http://www.wildhobbies.com/news/default.asp?cmd=view&articleid=1155 for a full review and video

I know its crazy to imagine, but rc bikes work pretty well. They're not too unstable, and go over all sorts of jumps and bumps. I saw a .21 streetbike be sent over jumps at high speed, it was really cool. It used 8th scale buggy tires for wheels, so it had a single sided swingarm...

That dirtbike looks awesome. No clue where the tires came from...

Just think, dirtbike's arent very stable either. Not many rc truck are stable. I think it would be awsome to have an rc dirtbike, I would prefer elec., but I would buy one if it wasn't. That dirtbike looks sick, it looks like it would haul *****.

Guys dont be stupid..lol. The tires came from the front wheels of a buggy...cmon guys think :) lol

Buggy tires aren't anywhere near that tall. I thought they might have been cut/glued Traxxas Bandit tires, but they're too tall to be those. They look like they're probably cut/glued 2.2" truck step pins. They'd be sized right in relation to the engine anyway.

I would say give that Radio shack vehicle a look. May be the closest you are going to get and it can be modified. Saw some video of a modded up RS bike taking some hobby grade jumps and sticking them easily.
