Hi all, we just started a brushless class at my local track. These were the systems used: BK warrior 9918/Lenhner Basic 5300
Hacker Master Car Comp/Hacker C-40 6s
Schulze 12.97fwe/Hacker C-40 8s
Novak SS5800
There were 3 qualifying heats then the main. The Results:

BK Warrior- Finished 1 heat,(3rd place). DNF for the main due to inconsistent throttle issues.

Hacker Master C- (fastest of the crowd). DNF all heats and main due to glitching and throttle issues.

Schulze 12.97- Ran Flawless, Finished 1st all heats and main. There was also a brushed open mod class run that day and the Schulze put down the fastest times compared to the 8 and 9 turns.

Novak SS5800- Finished all heats and the main, put up a good fight infield but was getting it's hat handed to it on the back stretch. Very reliable system but just not enough power for open mod.

The turn out was small this time but the popularity of brushless is growing, due to the low maintenance and speeds these things are capable of.

We have concluded that the hot setup on 6 cells, is the Schulze/hacker motor combo. People are interested in the Schulze U-force 75 controller because of the p/c link capability that it has over th 12.97. Will this controller have any problems working with the C-40 6s or 7s? Also are there any other controller motor combos that you can recommend for racing?

Remember were limited to 6 cell NIMH batteries, were not looking for high voltage systems just smooth throttle response and consistent performance.

any suggestions will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Going from the Schulze 12.97 to the U-Force will add another level of control. The U-Force works great with the Hacker C40 6S and has additional settings that are specific to a car. If you're not worried about cost then the U-Force 75 and the Hacker C40-6s are exactly what I'd recommend for the best combination of control and power. There are some other motor options as well that others will likely recommend but I only want to comment on what I have experience with - thats Hacker, Aveox, Schulze and Novak products, of them my favorite combo is the U-Force 75 and Hacker C40 6s when running on 6 cells.

I would recommend a C40 7 and a U-force 75. I have been running a C40 6turn with a U-force and is sometimes getting thermal issues if not geared properly. On small to medium tracks it just awesome but can get a bit tricky on larger tracks as I tend to gear higher to achieve a better top end and gets thermal issues, so a 7 turn will be sticking on the safe side.

Or even a Feigao 7s with a uforce is good.

I have the C40 6S and C40 7S, there is no question the 6S uses more power and will get the ESC hotter, but if its a problem simply change your gearing a little - in the end you'll get the same top speed as the 7S but you'll have even more acceleration.
I have also used a B50-6s but don't feel its as useful in a touring car, it does have more torque then the C40 series but also uses almost double the power, the C40 series offers more control and better efficiency in a sedan.

I use the U-force 75 with a plettenberg shadow. very fast on carpet, but a little hot for indoor racing. I used a fan on my esc to keep temps under control. With the fan I haven't seen any temps over 120F. If I remember correctly I was geared 72/23 with rubber tires. This makes a final drive of 7.83. I have also run this controller with a lehner basic 4200. Much longer run times and a little slower speed. great acceleration and somewhat less heat than the pletty. don't need the fan with this motor. geared between 72/24 and 72/26 for indoors. Outdoors I have run as low as 70/32 but I didn't gain much over the 72/28 gearing, but I had to try to beat Kevin Kane. I also own the novak and I agree that the ss5800 just don't have what it takes to compete in mod.
