I just got my MGM 120A controller today and I need some help from someone who knows how they work (Mr Constructor ??). My problem is this, if I go full throttle and then let off to say 50% throttle, the car decelerates very quickly, almost like the brakes are comming on. If I go full speed and let off the throttle all the way back to neutral, it doesn't do this.
Next, is there a way to turn off reverse? I don't find it in the manual. I bought the current verion of the MGM, the one that doesnt program via computer.

OptimaMan reported the same thing with the 80amp version. http://forums.radiocontrolzone.com/showthread.php?t=192121

Its really starting to sound like the car software just isn't what it should be yet, hopefully there is a setting change that can be made to fix it.

I was also suprised that boat mode still has reverse!!! Ya this "glitch" is very strange to say the least.

I think I have figured it out. They are absolute speed, speed controls. that is the absolute rpm of the motor is directly correlated to the trigger position. when you go from full speed to half speed say, the controller goes from full rpm to half rpm without coasting between the two. It would work great with a one way pinion and a mechanical brake.

Does nobody know when we can expect the software-updated controllers to hit the shelves?
Jamie???? Surely there is some idea of an ETA for them....
Racing season is here now and I need something for my 1/8 buggy. I don't know what to do. Castle isn't talking... Hacker is hopeless... I don't want a $400 Schulze firecracker...
Please tell me the new MGMs are on the way now!!!!
Heck, if it's going to be a while, I might have to put the gas tank back on the buggy :(

Word on the street is that I-care has them, that what they told me in an Email yesterday, the new ones no less (as in the new firmware to fix the braking).

Awesome... I hope that's true. I will get one ordered tomorrow if possible.
If MGM has updated the software glitch and shipped out the new versions already, I'm impressed. That speaks well of them. They are apparently on top of their game so to speak and are willing to meet the needs of the customer.
We need more of that in this hobby/industry.

I have one of the newest ones, although the non-computer programmable version. The brake problem doesn't seem to be completely fixed, but I hardly even notice it. Before it was supposed to be unberable. The way I run my cars its not too much of a problem anyway.

Do you think it's good enough to race with and not have problems? I plan to do some racing on a technical 1/10 size track. I hope it's VERY minor now.
I guess I'll get one and find out. Hmm....

Considering I am running default programming as of now it should be alright. With more tweaking on the settings I think I could eliminate it almost.

Maybe slight braking is a good thing for racing since brushed motors also have that affect from their natural drag brake.

Well I have one on the way... so I will find out soon.
It should be fine if it's barely noticable. You tend to "learn" how to drive with the particular characteristics of a vehicle anyway. As long as any weird "issues" like this are consistent and mild I can probably deal with it.

I ordered my MGM12012 on the same day as you Glassdoctor. I cant wait for it to get here, I'm very interested to see how it performs! As I'm sure you are as well. What chassis are you putting yours in?

i got mine back today from updating them at the factory, the first small test was made and it seemed to work smoother than before, much better to say, the "braking " problem got nearby solved, i could not or only very hardly notice it.
the major tests will follow, as the weather is so bad outside the past few weeks, so i hope on better weather and enjoy the fun testing it a little around !!
