Well R/C stands for Radio Controlled, and since the are not "Radio" controlled I guess not. But it doesn't matter, if you enjoy it then its cool! Slot cars are unique because they are truly MUCH faster than their tracks can handle. You have to respect that. I would love to see some slot car oval racing, I bet you could get them going pretty fast.

i just have these little hot wheel sized cars and im telling you, they rip! its actually not expected when you first get them. you pull the trigger to full throttle and it goes so fast it cant stay on the track by the time the first corner comes up so its actually quite challenging to get it going so you get good lap times AND stay on the track at the same time. thats what makes it fun.

and the reason im asking is because the pistol grip is kind of like a radio and its conected to the track. on the hirobo mini lama helicopter, the radio is tethered so it kand of makes sense that slot cars would be some what R/C.

R/C cars have their roots in slot cars. Very similiar things, except our cars are not tethered down and use their own power. I race at an indoor track that also has big slot cars and can tell you that the motors are similiar as well. Pistol grip "controllers" you could say also.
and it takes skill to set up slotcars. There are motors to build, gearing to consider, tire considerations, etc as well. If there is slot car racing in your area, its pretty cool. 1/24 scale cars going literally 100mph is wicked awesome. But that is like masters class.
SO slot cars are NOT r/c, because there is no radio. But they do have the same roots.

 Find a coupla pieces of stiff wire and attach them to your slot cars' chassis, feed them up through holes you've drilled through the bodies, add something similar to your controllers, invite your buds over to race, and see if they ask any questions.

Quite right, & in fact alot of the motor, chassis & tire tricks that we take for granted were invented by slot car guys quite some time ago.....

Tyco TCR slot cars from the '80s were RC.

thats what was confusing me about it. there are things similar and some things that arent similar between them. the set up is similar. the only thing that brings this issue up is that it has no radio and isnt individually powered.
