I have the Savage SS 4.6 Was wondering if there is a roto start setup for it or can you use the the same one for the .25. My pull Start is not working properly. It stopped retracting,I have to turn the fly wheel backward a little for it to retract back into the housing. When it starts it will go back in also.Anyone know of a solution, besides get another pull start?

I'm not sure.
Go to savage-central.com and ask them. They will help you out real quick!

My oneway bearing is sticking.Thats why the pullstart would not reatract.I do my after run and use lots of wd 40 and it will work fine then.Probably this cheaper fuel I am using.Guess I will try some other.O'Donnell's I guess.
Called tower hobbie and their tech guy said that the roto start for the .25 savage would work on the .28/4.6

I wouldn't trust their "tech guy". LOL
Pullstarts can be frustrating when you are breaking in an engine because you are running rich and that can cause the OWB to slip.

I read on savage central to that all the parts would interchange. So this is a good cause I already ordered a roto start
savage must have there factory settings really rich,I am 1 turn to the lean on my new 4.6 and it is still running rich.Thats the only way I could drive it for breakin.Factory setting worked fine for tank idling, but to drive it they were way to rich.Would die every time I applied the throttle.

Rich is OK for now but shoot for 200 degrees.

Dont have a heat gun.But isn't 200 degrees a little cold?

Not for breakin (IMO and many others)

gotnitro: I don't know where you saw on Savage Central that parts between the S-25 and the K4.6 are interchangeable. There was an issue with the pull start on the new K4.6 (.28) that they supposedly have since fixed. Everything I have read has said that none of the parts between the two engines are compatible, especially the pull start. There should be a thread or two over there (SC) about which, if any, backplate fits the K4.6 engine.

Its says right there in the first post that all SS 4.6 will fit on the .25 SS. And if the tech guys at tower are wrong then it looks like they get to buy a roto start back.

I wouldn't call any of their part-time college help "tech guys". LOL

gotnitro: If you are referring to the notice about the new SS kit, it says
All the parts that are on the new 4.6 SS kit will fit the 25 SS kit.
That means that parts from the 4.6 kit will fit on the older SS kit with the S-25 engine, not the other way around. The backplate on the K4.6 engine is completely different.
However, there has been a recent announcement that a Roto Start (or Jump Start, et al) backplate will be available for the K4.6 soon.

I am sure it will be a hot item too when it is available. The Savage central store will probably let everyone know that it here.
I am going to get off the subject here if thats ok.I am a new savage owner (SS 4.6). What is the average amount of turns from zero does the high speed usually run.Mine wont even start to run right until its about 2 turns.
