I plan to buy myself a 1/8 scale monster truck for my b-day. i already have a revo for racing and decided not to get the tnx cause my friend just bought one and i want get something different. I'm leaning to the gt because it seems that it's more durable and to me it looks better. from reading previous threads the losi seems to have durability issues. i understand with the lst you get a great radio two metal gear servos and a .26 motor. i probably won't race either one and stick to racing my revo. i plan on rock and hill climbing , driving on rough terrain and jumping. also i currenly have two synthesized radios jr xs pro and futaba 3pm-tfs. any input in my decision would be great. if anybody knows where i can cheaper prices than above i'd love to know. those prices include shipping. thanks

Get an MGT. It's more durable, and can pretty easily be made to be pretty fast(if you want it to be) :D

i would say the lst, i have had a mgt but i liked the lst better. it is durable and fast plus it has many cool features like the hi-low tranny.

I like the LST better because of the radio and the fact that that it has a low range for crawling if U want it for that.

I know you say you want something different but I have a MGT with a WASP 26 and I like my TNX much better. It handles so good compared to the MGT. And mgt actually handles good for a monster truck too. I can't comment on the LST driving wise but they are fast but are marginal on durabilty(flame suit on). Who cares if your buddy has one already. If it's a good product, i'm going to put my hard earned money on the best product as long as cost is reasonable. I bash with 4 guys on a consistant basis and one us purchased a TNX and once we saw how good it was 3 out of 4 of us now have a TNX. With the 4th guy saying he may get one.

I own a LST and my best friend has a MGT. Out of the box the LST is much faster and handles better, but I have to say that the MGT is a better basher. I have not broke anything on the LST but have had to make a lot of "adjustments". The MGT just runs and runs well...all day long...with no moaning or groaning. If you already have a good racer (the REVO) then go for the MGT. It is a better climber, more durable, easier to set up and tune, and a lot cheaper. I would still buy an LST again, but I only have one truck.

I have an MGT and the only problem with it is the transmitter. Since you already have a nice fm radio set-up, just get the MGT and buy a compatible receiver. The MGT is just awesome. I found it for 369.95 with free shipping at ultimatehobbies.com.
The vast majority of MGT owner's love the thing. Seems it holds a special place in their collections. It does in mine and I have had mine for about a month.
Good luck!

That's a hard choice, but I'd say the AE is a little better for bashing. If you don't bash real hard, and you don't hit things and know how to jump and land correctly then an LST will hold up very well. However, if you hit a lot of things or land jumps poorly the MGT does hold up a bit better. The bumpers on the LST are actually far better because they're flexible, whereas the AE engineers (who I'm convinced were on crack) decided that rigid bumpers are the way to go. The arms on both trucks are probably their weakpoints, as they should be. Arms are cheap and easy to replace, and frankly, an arm that breaks first usually means less broken parts elsewhere. One big strike against the LST as a basher is it's horribly weaksauce stock body. It's something like .030 Lexan, which flat out doesn't cut it on a 13 lb truck. If you plan on bashing hard, pick up a Pro-Line body that's made out of .060 Lexan. You'll be much happier, and so will the truck, because it will slide a lot better when you roll it because the body won't fold and crumble to pieces. Overall they're both awesome trucks, and IMO two of the best on the market. As such, I have both of them, and they're both very dear to me. The LST drives like a huge stadium truck with its quick steering and low center of gravity, but it has the power and size to outclass most any other monster truck on the market. It really is an exceptional machine. The MGT is a bit more basic, and the design influences of the T-Maxx are plentiful and blatant, but that's not a bad thing, because one) the T-Maxx is a solid truck in its own right, and two) that means if you're familiar with the way a Maxx is put together, then you'll be familiar with many bits of the AE. However, there are a lot of things different between a Maxx and and MGT. In a Maxx, the drivetrain is a bit of a weak point, whereas in the MGT, it's a strong point. The Maxx chassis design with its 3 sections that are all sorta tied together is gone, and replaced by one rock solid core. I think the MGT has the strongest chassis design on the market, period. The T-Maxx can be broken in thirds, a Savage can be folded in half, the Losi can be broken in half on a really really hard hit, but the MGT's chassis is as solid as a bank vault. The arms aren't as strong as a Savage's, which is disappointing, because the chassis and drivetrain certainly are. The bumpers are rigid and strong, which is good, but flexible and strong like a Revo, Maxx, or Savage bumper is much better. Overall I think it's a great truck. I think the MGT's engine is the easiest to start and tune in all of r/c, and it makes decent power. I put the F.O.C. and a Fantom pipe on my MGT and it runs very strong now. It has no problems sending four rooster tails behind it as it climbs massive sand hills. The LST runs even stronger, and is still easy to start and tune, but the engine isn't nearly as reliable. The MGT is like an old Toyota pickup. Extraneous bits and pieces may fall off and break, and it may not be the fastest truck ever, but overall it's the best designed vehicle in the history of the world. Nothing is tougher or longer lasting.

Not the fastest truck until you put a mach .26 in it then I bet it will be at least as fast :D :D :D

if you guys could only see some of the retarded things I've done to my MGT and i end up knocking screws loose or bending bumpers... To be honest, I think everyone who drives monster trucks should own an MGT as a backup truck, it's not my favorite truck to drive, my TNX is fun as hell, but the MGT is always ready to bring a smile to my face when the TNX is sidelined.

I agree with everything said here.
Plus, for the $600 that you would spend on the LST you could get an MGT and grab a sick .26+ motor NIB on EBay. Then you'll have a truck that's faster, and have a zero-mile spare motor ;)

hmm true .. anyway i could get the lst shocks on a mgt?

I've been thinking about that myself. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have a problem mounting the top of the shock...but not sure if the bottoms would fit in the a-arms. Very seriously considering it though

Not sure how it would work and keep current suspension geometry. The driveshaft runs between the front shocks and I am not sure if it would any where to go with the big shocks from the LST. Maybe some one can chime it who has tried it.

I would pick the monster gt over the lst any day. It only breaks bumpers for the most part and has an extremely reliable engine. Every time i see the lst take a big jump it snaps an arm ir breaks a cvd. Also The monster gt is easier to work on.

Ahh, nice to have another TNX owner on this board. Don't waste your time with the MGT. I have one and hardly drive it anymore as the TNX is much more fun to drive. In my opinion you have the two best trucks on the market right now the revo and TNX. I have driven or owned a MGT,TNX,Revo,Savage and Tmaxx.
Of the Revo and TNX which of the two do you like better. Which one handles better.

^^^Ahem.
I have an MGT. It is most certainly NOT a waste of time. I love my MGT. It handles exceptionally, starts easily every time, and takes everything I throw at it in stride.
I definately don't meant to diss on the TNX by any means, as I really like the truck and plan on buying the Pro edition some time in the future.

metalry101-Hey not trying to bad mouth the MGT, as if you read my post I have one. It even has a wasp 26 so it is alot faster than a stock MGT. The TNX is a better truck and is more fun and rewarding to drive than the MGT.
Take it as you may but I do own both trucks and the TNX gets more drive time by quite a bit.
