IMO the car bodies on a monster truck look wierd. I have the power wagon and it gives it a mean look. Do you want a pickup, suv, or car?

I've done a charger and a cuda for savages...I dont like them. They're really thin in some parts, you have to put too much stuff together with doublesided tape ( more stuff to fall apart when racing), but they do look cool when not on the savage itself. I was gonna buy one and mount it on my touring car, but nah. :P

I think a pick-up body would look really cool. Maybe some awesome rips for graphics and a bit of chrome on it here and there. Plus, on the tail gate, there could be a very small logo of the painter so he could get some attention and recognition at a special event. This logo and attention should be taken into consideration by the painter to offset the majority of the cost. ;)
I agree with piggy, i Like the pickup bodies on Monster trucks. Something with smooth lines and nice curves.
Hmm, almost forgot i was talking about MT bodies :D

TRF if you wanna put a sedan type body on a truck, I say go for it. Who cares what anyone else likes. It's what you like that counts. I have a Savage too and I also am a fan of putting sedan shells on MTs.
I was just looking through the final comments in the March painting contest and I'm really diggin' on the Parma Chevy Nomad. I don't know how thick that shell is, but I've seen one on a Savage and I loved it. I don't mind doing body repairs. The current shell I have on my Savage is the Pro-Line GMC Sierra stadium truck style body. It's .060 thick and in just two bashing sessions, one at my house and one at the local track, it has a serious scuff on the roof and a tear in the right rear quarter panel. I'm a stickler for curving my cut lines, so that wasn't necessarily a weak area. I think it probably was from the hard butt landing my truck took (driver error) coming off the biggest jump at the track.
I've learned from experience to get pictures of a new shell while it's still pristine so I'll have something to remember it by. Paint 'em, wreck 'em, repair 'em until the only thing holding them together are patches, then buy a new one. It's no fun babying a truck =)

When I say sedan I really mean a shell meant to go on a TC. I've seen a number of MTs with TC 200mm bodies on them. Me likey. =)

Hey, how did I get dragged in on this. Sorry TRF, wasn't me who sent you the charger pic. I'd be happy to paint something though. And no, I'm not doing the comps again. Looking at this month's comp, I'd say Piggy is king... oh yeah, I did say that already. :D
Anyway, back on topic... Back in the day (late 70s early 80s) I remember seeing some Firebirds, Thunderbirds, Pintos, and such mounted to Chevy Blazer frames. Back then I thought those were the coolest things on 4 wheels. That said, I say go get a modern body and mount it to the Savage. Maybe a PTI mustang or HPI Trans-Am?

ok I did not read thru this whole thing so if someone already mentioned it sorry, but I think the new Proline Ford 650 is one of the hottest bodies yet.

That's a cool body, but it's made for the MGT and is to big for a Savage.

adrc: I've seen one on a Savage, but it had 1" extended TVPs installed so it actually looked pretty cool. On a stock Savage, it extends past the front and rear bumpers, which doesn't necessarily look bad. I've seen two stock-length Savages with that shell on them and they were pretty nice. I'd love to see what kinda scheme you could come up with for that shell. I think it would look great!

I put the Parma 72 chevy on my Savage and it looks great. I painted it in a retro paint scheme and the body is really thick so it will take a major beating.

I just bought a 50's Chevy Truck body for my Savvy.. Going to paint it a red-chrome color. I'll post picks when it's done, it'll be my first so it'll probably be pretty ******. LOL It's a Pro-line body and is really thick, so it should take a helluva beating.

So far I've noticed the HPI bodies are much weaker then the Proline bodies.
But I would like to get the Cuda body. Is it a flimsy body like the other HPI bods, like the stock bod or the Jeep bod?
Thanks
