Are you painting the inside of the body? If so you would have had to paint the stripes first.

PM a gentleman on this forum named "Extreme Duty" ask him for a pic of his 1/8 scale buggy. He painted it like a tiger and it looks awesome.

I tried to paint an albino tiger strip but it didn't turn out so hot! i used pearl silver and pearl white for the strips. I made the stripes vering widths and lengths. the mask bled on me on several strips and it was my first paint job! This pic is hard to see the stripes! but look close you can make them out! The cool thing about this paint job is when the light hits it on way the white stands out and others it looks silver!

the firehammer is a 1/5 scail and the body is ABS not lexand, itis'nt clear but white
so putting 4 coats of base orange is a must. thanks McKB

Here's one I did a while back. I cut the stripes and face out of vinyl mask.

eugene,

I drew the stripes on the outside of the body where I thought they should be (remember, that is lexan and painted in reverse) then I cut out the stripes from the liquid mask and painted them with createx black and a badger 150 w/ medium tip. There really was no technique invloved in painting it since it was a solid stripe. Any brush or can, for that matter, would work. I did try to do the fade w/ white like Cosmo, but the white I did got trimmed off of the bottom >:(

For my next body, I'm going to do a liger. It's pretty much my favorite animal...

leadfoot, as i told McKB the firehammer doesn't come in a clear lexand body but a white ABS. so any stripping will be put over the orange base paint. the fire hammer is also 1/5 or 1/6 scail. i'm also planing to put lights on it. i've got 6 1/2'' ABS end caps that are about the same size. i'll be fitting them with white LEDs.. i'm going to mount
4 on the roof and 2 on the hood....
Sorry to hear that u lost your fade to white after u trimed the body, it still looks sweet, i just hope i can do as good a job.. i'm not too good in the art dept. i also don't use my air brush all that offten, so i'm learning how to use it all over again..
thanks again wazoo

Hey Cosmo:
Do you have any more pic's of this shell? The paint scheme is cool! with exception of the tiger.... the Orange, white, and black paint job looks simple to do? Is it? Please discribe how you did it. also what shade of orange did you you use ..... :D

I don't have any more pics. I did that for a customer a few years back.

But, it's pretty easy.

The colors are Faskolor orange and white.
I cut the stripes by hand out of vinyl mask material, then placed them randomly on the body.
I sprayed white along the bottom of the body and around the eyes in the tiger.
I then sprayed the whole body with orange, backed with white then silver.
I removed the stripe masks and painted the black.
