I'm looking at getting a brushless and lipo setup for a TC4.
Anyone have sugestions for a good setup?
I dont know much about these motors or even the batterys. All I know is what I have read so far.
I'm about a month away from getting all setup so please let me know what you think.

What will your budget be like? Money really is the only limit on what you get. There are the low-cost (but still plenty good) systems, and then there are the more expensive systems. And the same thing goes with lipo batteries.

Well I'm not to picky about money.
If something cost a little more but is tons better I'll spend the cash.
But of course I would like to get something thats not tons of cash.
Just something to get me started as far as motor and ESC go.
I'll most likely spend a bit more on the lipo's cause I dont want to have to buy new ones when I upgrade to a better motor.
More then anything else what is a good starting motor. I dont want the fastest with all the bells I wouldn't know what to do with it.
Just something to get me up and running till I have some time in the hobby.

Well, I would reccomend going all out bells and whistle's and all that with the ESC, since that is usually the thing that you need to watch out for. I would reccomend the Schulze U-Force 75, as it is by far the best and leading in the technology department. It is well worth the price and you should be able to run any motor you want, Brushed or Brushless with it. For a starting motor, I would first have to know what speed's you are looking for.

I second that, U-Force 75 also fits perfect on a TC4.

If the uforce is too expensive for your liking the mtroniks genesis sport is a very capable controller also about half the price of a u-force 75. It can handle up to 10 cells or 4s lipo. It’s suitable for any 2 pole brushless motor but with the timing adjustability going up to 30degrees i think it probably would work with the pletie 4 polers as well.
I am currently running this controller with my hacker C40 8s i plan to get a lower kv motor and get a 4s lipo pack with this I think it should either melt my tires or re-arrange my cars transmission.
When I get my act together ill record and post a vid of my genesis c40 8s powered academy sb.

Pair that with a plettenburg shadow and you will be set, but this might not meet your cost requirments ($175 for motor & $280 for esc). Mabey you can get a combo deal from Jamie at www.starluckrc.com give him a mail. If this is a little out of the range you can cut back on price by $100 and get a feigao 7s from the afore mentioned site for $80. Both are good but the pletty is more tailored to the type of driving you will be doing. Definetly get the UF75 esc though it will have the smoothness and tuneability (sp? wrd?) you will need for an on-road vehicle.

I'm going to be running on an indoor carpeted track.
I dont think its all that big but it has alot of turns and is totaly flat.
I think if I get to big I'll just be slideing all around.
I will try to get an idea of what people are running on the track right now so maybe we can compair.

Mabey the plettenburg indoor II motor would be better for the smaller indoor tracks. Not to high of a rpm/v rating (about 4300 i believe). I like to run to much power and have a problem hooking up. Thats what practice is for, you just have to learn how much power you can put down at any one time. I just like to have it all on tap when I need it :) With the UF esc you can also set acceleration curves with the computer link ;)
The Pletty Shadow and Indoor II shouldn't have the lower end punch to make the car uncontrollable at low speeds, their powerbands are more for a higher top speed that TC cars average. But I dont have any experience with either motor, Im just going by what I have read and heard thru the grapevine.

Indoor II was built for indoor carpet racing. 6-pole smoothness and about 15 minutes of runtimeon 3300's. I have one in stock not yet posted on the website.

What is a good ESC to go with that indoor II?
I looked at the UF 75 but I think that is going to be a bit more then I want to spend.
Mind you I need something that can handle Lipo's.
The mtroniks genesis sport did look nice. Will it work with this motor?
Oh and the ones on Jamie's site the 80 looked like a nice controler. Any word on that one?

From what has been said plettenburg motors are quite hard on controllers as they have 4 or more poles.
If you cant afford a u-force then I would not bother with a plettenburg motor as there also expensive.
Before you get lipo's make sure that you can use them at your club.
If you allowed to use lipo then I would suggest a 2 pole motor of around 3000kv with the mtroniks genesis sport and get a 4s lipo pack and you will have insane speed and acceleration. The 3808412S feigo would work well but you would need an adapter plate or make your own.
If your track has the 6 cell limit then maybe something like either a c40 10s or a lehner basic 4200 with the genesis sport controller would probably work well on a small track.
