Well, I have a novak SS 5800 with a "start up" problem. Once it gets going it runs normal. It just doesn't have the punch on take off. It stutters a bit and then it goes. I will say, I jump it pretty hard and had some hard landings the other day. It's out of warranty so it's going to cost me to get it fixed unless there is a quick fix. I have reset it and it doesnt help. It also started doing this thing where it will not go at all when the throttle is pulled. Then 2 seconds later it will go. I thought it may be to hot, but everything seems cool or barely warm. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's called cogging, a common thing with brushless. Just learn to be smoother on the throttle and try to avoid 0-wot take offs. I think that should help. I have a novak and experience the same thing when im towards the edge of my radio range.

No, it's not cogging. I've had the unit for a year and a half and it has never done this. It does it right up close. You expeirenced glitching not cogging. Mine is stalling when I pull the throttle. Plus the random cut offs are odd also.

Ive heard of the motors getting "dead spots" on them. Symptoms of this is more of a stuttering in place though. Mabey check the sensor wires for loosening on either end.

well i have submerged mine in water, no not intentionly. shut it down took it all apart let dry and cleaned everything out including ESC and it still works great. Novak did say they thought it should have been wrecked.. you might want to take it apart and clean the whole unit as dirt does get into everything. and circuit boards dont like to have dirt on them..

The sesor wires connection going into the speed control was a big issue for me. See if you are geting a rotor lock detection. There is another thread here on troubleshooting the motor that tells you how to determine if the motor has a dead spot. Most likely it will require service.

No it does not sound like cogging. Cogging is not normally an issue with the sensored Novak.

You may have a damaged sensor, or a damaged drive phase in the ESC. It's kind of hard to say for sure.

If your motor has a lot of "Endplay" you can try shimming it a bit more. You only really want about .5mm of endplay.

Check the Sensor plug itself and all the wires that sit in it. I usually try to push on each wire one at a time.

Thanks
