hey alright, this seems to be a good little forumfor some rc18t action

alrighty, im completely new to eletric rc... nitro i know, eletric is damn foreign to me and well... i want a little brushless monster, and really i dont know what to get, i know brushless probably isnt the best thing to get starting out but ya know...id rather get something good right off the bat, then spend money on crap and spend MORE money later. SO whats a good rc18t setup, ive been hearing the mamba seems pretty good, i dont want too much power, or hassle... but i do want some good runtime and speed :)

thanks

I would also reccomend the mamba or if you look around Tekin just introduced a 1/18 scale motor and esc.

There is 4 different stages to the mambas, sport (4200kv), performance (5400kv), competition (6800kv) and comp X (8000).

I notice that people go balls to the wall and put the 8000 in a 1/18 and it is to much. If you stick to the performance (5400) I think you will definetly be happy with the performance (especially if you go lipo batteries but thats a whole other round of questions for you). Heck once you get used to the speed of that motor you can just upgrade to a higher Kv one for pretty cheap.

Ugh, too much BS floating around the net on lipoly's. YES, they WILL explode, only if you overcharge/mischarge the pack or you charger (if you have a Triton, or one that decides on what the pack size is instead of you entering it) has a fluke. I've been running Lipolys in my MQ since Christmas and have had no problems, they are easily one of the best "mods" I have done to my MQ.

And just buy a brand new Mamba from www.b-p-p.com I'm not sure if he still has the sale but the 5400 was selling for $100, smokin deal. *Edit* The 5400 is going for $105 and the 6800 is $100. Either one would rock in the 18T and like I said, best price you can find for a new one.

Its all about knowledge, responsible people dont explode their lipos. And for the record NIMH/NICD batteries are almost as dangerous if mistreated. A brand new mamba combo is only $110-135 sport-compx. Go to www.starluckrc.com

:p

I will never go back to NIMH after experience my Etec 2400mah 7.4 pack! My motor and esc (in my mini quake) will melt before the pack runs out! Talk about fun runnin!
