I am seriously looking at getting this finely detailed tug. Has anyone bought one yet and what are your thoughts and opinions concerning the tug. I fully understand that it is almost RTR but improvements and additions are always a challenge as well as fun.

I have a Atlantic Tug and I have had many hours of fun with it.It handles great and the scale speed is nice with the speed control the rudder smves very smooth without any jurkey movements.I think you will enjoy this boat and it is nice for the price.

I just recently purchased the Atlantic Tug. This tug is ready to run. Just drop in the batts and your ready to go. Shakedown cruise was this past weekend and I must say that the tug ran very smoothly in terms of Rudder control. Throttle control was Ok. The radio is not hobby quality and needs to be replaced with a much better one. My only disapointment is that the tug does not run to scale. The tug is much too fast and seems to want to plane. The high speed makes the tug somewhat unstable. It was obvious that the tug needs balast to make it stable. I'm very satisfied with the tug and I plan on adding some fittings and things to make it more realistic. I also think that with ballast added, the tug would run much better with a four bladed prop.
Did you see the Radio Controlled Hobbies episode where the Atlantic Tug was featured. The gel cell idea is good along with replacing the radio and speed control. I too plan on changing the color scheme. When on the water people stop and look on as the tug is cruising around. Buy the tug. You will not be disappointed. If you want I will keep you posted on the changes and upgrades. Good Luck.

I would agree with all of the comments made about the Atlantic Tug. I have had one now for two years and I use it as a test boat for most of my new projects.

My boat has been highly modified with a change in all electrics. I installed a 555 motor to reduce the speed to Scale and increase run-time. On 4 amp hour 12V Gell Cell I have run for 8 hours non-stop.

Boat now has an ESC controlled Fire Monitor with servo controlled movememt, JJC Electronic Engine Sound & Horns.

Electroinics have been changed to 6 Channel with hopefully a new Smoke Unit to follow.

Makes for a great atrraction at displays when you start throwing water around at the crowd.

Well worth an investment and big enough to accomodate any modifications a new modeller might want to try.
