Hey all,

Jamie from Starluck sold me his Mamba 5400. I wasn't sure it would be enough power, so I ordered up a 3s 1800 Polyquest Lipo as well. The whole package arrived today. Unfortunately I don't have my lipo charger bought yet, so I had to run on the stock battery.

I put it all together, and figured I'd be disapointed on the 5400 and 6 cells, figured it would be roughly like stock. Boy was I wrong.

It took me a minute to get the Mamba calibrated and setup. I thought it was broken at first, but I just didn't have it programmed. The directions were easy and I got it all set up, the car jumped forward on the workbench. Its time.

I went outside and my jaw dropped. The 18T rocketed off much faster than I expected. I went up to the dirt road, and it would roost the tires hard, kicking up an impressive dust cloud too. I took it pretty easy since I didn't know what to expect. Pretty soon the neighbor shows up, but he's way down the street walking the dog. The dog comes running up the street at my at full speed. I only had 1 choice, meet him halfway with the 18T.

The 18T went screaming off towards the dog, who quickly saw it. It was a game of chicken that resulted in the dog heading off the road into a bush. Nice. I stopped the truck and the dog starts jogging away, so I give chase. I can catch this poor dog with ease and run right into its back legs sending me into a cartwheel.

I ran probably 3-4 packs on the mamba today. I stripped a stock spur, and went with my 60T replacement. I also broke a front shock shaft, I have no replacement for that. I also lost the spring, and its retainer. The front diff also seems in bad shape. I can tell this Mamba is going to be expensive....

I may have bit off more than I can chew with the 3s. I can't imagine kicking this up 4 more volts. I'm going to gear it as low as I possibly can. The Lipo holds 2.7 times more energy than the stock pack too... can't wait.

Pics will come.

its brutally fast with 3s.

I think you'll find you have somewhere around double the power with the 3S LiPo pack, the internal resistance of a lithium pack is so low they hold voltage extremely well.

Have fun and make sure you keep the diffs tight enough...Mamba power can be hard on things
