Never thought I'd say the forum can be improved but it might just can.:)

I'm the worlds worst about getting off subject with posts. (don't everybody agree at one time). Its too easy to talk other things besides boats if you like the folks you're dealing with. I've noticed it becoming a problem in past threads & it takes some jabbing from another member to stay on track. (referencing myself again):D

How would you feel about a "shoot the breeze" room "chit chat" or whatever a cool name for it would be?

I for one am very interested in Chris LaPense's rockets & how he's getting 530 mph out of these things. At the same time, don't want to go join a new forum & leave it.
Who else? Anyone into the Go-Peds? Would love to build one out of a SIKK someday.
Fullscale boats? I'm a HUGE fan of high performance outboard boats from the little jon rigs to F1 tunnel & offshore.
Fishing, Love it! Spending time with family.. YEP
GOLF? Oh Yeah.
Motorcylces? Umm humm. My wife is in the market for a new touring bike. Yamaha FJR1300. Me,? Interested & know my way around but have obligated funds to r/c boats instead. :D
or any mix of clean subjects we all enjoy talking about without getting too far off from the boats in ones thread.

Okay, there's the Readers Digest version of how to toss this idea by you guys. No big deal if you don't agree, but a suggestion none the less.

ps, heres a pic of my first vacation home (Panama City) stateside in three years to the month. Taken last June while heading out in the Gulf of Mexico for some offshore fishing.

pss...Almost embarrassed to say, but it would be nice if its considered to leave it in the boating forum as this is where I know most members.

Not a bad idea DD, but I don't think it can happen here. The Forum software platform that this site uses does not support chat! At least from what I understand!

I like to "shoot the breeze" too sometimes, so maybe a thread may work.

Fishing............. :D Love it!!!!! Born to fish, live in Florida on the coast, fishing in the blood for me. Go once a week Spring though Fall usually. Have a 17 ft flats skiff with a hopped up 55 2-stroke. Power trim and runs on 4 inches of water. A calm day I have it scooting at 52mph with me and my fishing pole aboard.

Other forums that do not support a 'chat room' have a section for off topic, or just general posts. I wouldn't suggest an 'anything goes' type section, but maybe one for off topic stuff ?

Yes. There should definitely be an OT area here. Part of the reason it might not have happened yet, though is that there used to be an OT area in the car section, and people were abusing it and posting inappropriate material, so they had to remove it. Now, there is another one that they called the secret forum (you can't access it from the main page) that could have the same fate. Still, it's a good idea, and I think that the boat section in general has a lot fewer idiots than the car section, so ythere would be less chance of that happening. Overall, I think it should definitely be given a try.

As for other interests -
Full scale boats (and cars, and planes) - love them - only they're just a little out of my price range right now

Fishing - sure. I haven't done it in a while, but it's a good way to relax and have fun with friends or family.

Go-peds - not allowed in my neighborhood, but I definitely would like one.

Motorcycles - sure, I like them too.

Overall, there are lots of good things we could talk about in an OT forum and it would be a good addition to the boards (and yes, I think it should stay in the boating section)

Doooh. :o

Didn't mean Chat as in a chat room but an off topic section like you guys mentioned. Would be nice to keep it in the boating section of this forum too as I know most of you :)

Going home in two weeks. This time there won't be no offshore fishing but plenty of golf & beach time. :)

Funny (not really) about the beach. Last year was my wifes first time out in the Gulf. I'd shown her newspaper clippings of some of the shark attacks along the Panhandle area of FL. She was nervous as sin about even getting her feet wet. So one evening we get home from Gulf Shores & turn on the tv. There was a news report of an attack that happened less than a mile from were we was swimming!!!!

Not a bad idea DD - a bench racing forum. On Iwaters we kinda voted the idea down, realizing that an O/T post in the regular forum kept other topics going. For example when I log in here and there are posts I have not read I will go in; if there are no new ones-on to the next page. All we decided was that an off topic thread be titled as such so those who are only interested in reading about rc boats could move on, but the rest of us who were just killing time with our buds could get some entertainment.
