That is definitly a Ko Propo helios?!?!?!Does JR own Ko Propo? If so this is what people have been waiting for. A synth helios! Should be nice, but get rid of the JR and put the Ko Propo back on it.

Does the KO wheel extension unit work with this new transmitter, or will another one be releaed under the JR badge?

Very, very, very cool...except for one thing. I love JR, I own 5 of them, but I'd much rather buy a KO Propo. No one runs the Helios, and it is definately the sexiest r/c radio ever...and part of the appeal was the KO name, which hardly anyone knows. Everyone's heard of JR. Oh...and the KO looks better with just the gold and black. The red doesn't look bad on this radio at all, but compared to the standard Helios it's just not quite as good...
Looks to be an exceptional piece of hardware though. Any word on pricing?

Yes, the KO wheel extension will work with the radio. It has the same wheel jumper wire inside as the Helios. Essentially everything made for the Helios will work for this radio, even the PC connector.

If i'm not mistaken, JR and KO were affiliated some time back also(and still is as we see here).
I remember the great JR R756 transmitter using the same case as an older KO transmitter(EX-1 I think it was).
Maybe that's why we see the similarity in their names too.
Hmmmmmm.......

I already have a Helios. I got mine when they first came out. Now I am trying to get a Spektrum for it. Had they released this deal a little sooner I think the response would have been alot better. Now that the Spektrum is out, I think interest will diminish. On a second note, the Helios is by far the most awesome radio ever. I wish the 3rd channel had more functionality then just being an on/off switch..

Hopefully they don't intend to replace the R1 Pro with this thing. Not everyone likes the Gundam-Mech-Robot look on a radio. The fact that KO isn't nearly as much a force in the US as JR, Airtronics, or Futaba should've been enough to discourage JR from picking up the design. The R1 needs to be updated, for sure, but a simple cosmetic touch-up and an integrated spread spectrum setup would've been enough to make them a player in the surface radio market again. OK, they should probably make the menu a little more intuitive, too.
That said, I've got a new R1 Pro with the Spektrum system, it'll be years before I give it up. I had an M8 prior to the R1, and I will admit that it was much easier to access various functions, and just plain easier to understand. I had a KO Precious for 6 or 7 years before buying the M8, to this day it's still one of my favorites (I still use mine for my boats and bashers).

It was the first generation KO EX-10. KO radios have always been my favorite, from the EX-7, EX-2, EX-11 and last week i finally got my EX-10 Helios!

It does not seem to have as many options as the xs3?
I personally love the timer on my xs3. It changes bashing to practicing... which is importiant to justify playing with toys... er waisting... er spending time on my hobby... at my age

What were you thinking?
XS3 options:
- 6-model memory
- 3-character model name entry
- Electronic digital trim levers for throttle and steering
- Two assignable electronic grip levers
- Auxiliary third channel accessible through
Grip Lever A
- Direct display trim function
- Servo reversing
- Sub-trim
- Steering dual-rate
- Exponential (steering and throttle)
- Steering end-point adjustment
(two points: left and right)
- Brake/throttle end-point adjustment
- Throttle deadband adjustment
- 50-lap timer
- Low-battery alarm
Much of that list are not even adjustments.
The most significant additional option on the Z1 to me would be the servo speed adjustments, those help for really fine tuning and to make driving easier. Does the XS3 have ABS?
My question is, how is the Z1/helios screen? Seems to small to display much information.
I belive this radio used a module in the tx, so spectrum should be possible..

Try http://www.kopropo.com for Helios options. It does everything except provide real time telemetry back to the driver. You can use it to count laps and then go back and review lap times. You can set the timer to count up or down. It has servo speed, exponential which can be set in up to three stages and you can move the transition points between those stages. You can assign the buttons to pretty much anything you want. It has ABS and a similar function to pulse the throttle if wanted. I think you can also set it up with a computer using optional software. This is a pro level controller.

MANY users will disagree with you. All the buttons and features are laid out logically with form AND function in mind. The LCD display consists of lots of segments allowing lots of room for information to be displayed.
