I managed to pull out the heatsink in my controller by mistake and would like to know if anyone knows what the white silicone like material is used around the casing. Controller works fine as the heatsink in held by a cable tie at the moment and seems a DIY job, rather than sending back to Schulze.

It's thermal epoxy, Search the local computer stores for it. It's a kind of thermal paste and epoxy resin combination so the heatsink won't move after it sets up.

Not sure about thermal epoxy as do they hardened alot.

Trust me, its the exact same stuff they used to adhere the heatsink to the FET's on the controler. You need it to harden so that the heatsink won't slide off it and let the controler overheat.

OK, Wouldn't this conduct electricity and short the controller as the thermal epoxy will be sandwich between the PCB and Heatsink.

Yeah, lookout for the thermal epoxies like the Artic Silver brand, they put actual silver flake into the epoxy, which has awesome thermal properties, but also excellent electrical properties. I'll see what I can find in the non-electrical conductive catagory.
Slingo! (http://www.arcticsilver.com/arctic_alumina_thermal_adhesive.htm) Remember, your looking at the Thermal-Adhesive NOT Thermal compound.

The same site that has that epoxy has a list of US and international distributors for you to check out, should make it real easy to find it locally, or close to it.

Yikes, how hard did you pull on the heatsink to have it come off?

It is definitely not thermal adhesive as reply for schulze is below:
i am afraid that you can not get this silicon in Australia.
It is a special 2 compound casting silicon for electronicsmade by a german company.
I think the minimum quantity is 1kg and it is expensive!
