What articles (reviews, columns and departments included) did you like best? Please also state whether you're a beginner, intermediate or experienced. Your feedback is very much appreciated.

I really liked the whole Nitro fuel guide! I would say I am a beginner (only been at it for about 2 years now). I knew that I needed plenty of oil, but I never really knew how much! Also, I now know what additaves to look for for the good fuels :D!

Thanks for your input. By the way, you're being too modest or not giving yourself enough credit. With two years of experience, I would classify you as more than a beginner. With magazines (if I can be so bold) and the Internet, people learn fast now. It’s much harder to separate the intermediates from the advanced, in my opinion.

The FE coverage was pretty good considering that I'm not a FE racer. I seem to enjoy the Final Moorings page, there is always cool stuff on it. I was impressed on how light that boat is running considering all the weight that he must have onboard.
Seeing Gesse Rand's "Watermelon" boat at the bottom of page 62. I know him from another sites chat room.
The only negative for me was too much electric stuff in the issue but it must be hard to keep a good balance to keep everyone happy.
Yeah, I'm experienced but not THAT experienced, I'm still learning more every day.

Ron, I'm glad there was something there for you. Having enough varied content for everyone is tough. It's actually very tough. Your comments are completely valid though. I try to get nitro stuff in each issue, but we inarguably do need more. I'm on it and will do my best to up the nitro content.

I know people must hate rating themselves, but it really helps me put your comments in context.

If you have the time, please let us know what you liked in the June issue. It will help us greatly in our efforts to produce the best RC boating magazine.

Matt, I thought I read a while back RCBM was going to do a feature on the climate version of the 1/12 Miss Supertest. Are you still going to do it??? Initally from the photos I saw it looks like a beautiful boat and I want to see more.

Thanks for your comments, guys. I'm not sure about the Miss Supertest, but I'll look into it.

Well, I can't find my copy of the june issue, but my August issue just arrived in the mail, so here are my comments on it:
I really liked the article on water pumps (in Gasoline Alley).Very informative and interesting.
I also enjoyed the article on limited sport hydros. I am thinking of getting into racing, and I cannot afford to race in most classes (I could afford the initial cost, but the maintenance would kill me). LSH is one of the few classes I could get into, and the article was very good at describing how to get started.
I was very happy about the LiPoly battery review - I've been looking at these for a while for my truck (no it's not a boat, but it does run off batteries, so the review was related), and that was very helpful.
That conley-powered 1920 gold cup racer in Final moorings? Sick, totally sick. That is one of the most incredible boats I've ever seen (just next time, give us a running pic too).

Overall, great magazine, and I can't say I have any complaints (unless you'd like to make it longer? :D )

Hello,

I am wanting to get into the Electric Boat Hobby and was wondering which boat would be better--the Kyosho Twin Storm 800 or Traxxas Villain EX?

how about some tune mods for engines the bike mags used to do it, could have them for gas and nitro, would be a seller for sure. :)

You'll have to wait until our October issue (on-sale July 12). We have put these boats through tons of side-by-side testing and it's all in the article. You'll love it.

I got the August issue in the mail today! Great photography throughout.
Some of the articles have a familiar look to them like parts of them were gleaned from threads in here but that's OK with me. Still, too much electric coverage for one of the smaller parts of boating. Yeah, I'll get flak out of that one!:D
The "Install a Bigger Fuel Tank" article will help to show how to plumb up a tank.
The Li-poly article was interesting but showed me that I really don't want to swap over to them yet for my use.
The Final Mooring again was cool with the Totally Screw'd boat. The engine was out of place in it (no Chevy 427's in the `20's) but still cool.
I do get disappointed in not seeing much in the way of IMPBA or other sanctioning body coverage besides NAMBA.

There's more nitro coming in the very near future. Electric is arguably a "smaller part" in terms of racing, but it still makes up the majority of boats out there. I maintain that more electric boats are sold overall than nitro and gas combined. I’m not saying electric is better; it is entirely a matter of personal taste. Racing as a whole is still a small part of the hobby, but one that I'd, for one, like to see grow. Anyway, you, the readers, have asked for more nitro and you'll be getting it soon. I fully admit that RCBM has been lacking nitro coverage and I think you glow-heads will like what I have planned.

And, I can assure you, any appearance of "gleaning" is purely coincidental. Some might even be insulted by that sort of comment, but I doubt that was your intention.

If threads or parts of them have been used for articles in the magazine is fine with me. They have been taken a step further in showing pictures and more detailed "how to". You have after all asked us on another posting what we'd like to see in upcoming issues and some of the things are already showing up in a slightly different though helpful form. It makes it easier to answer some questions when we can just say for them to look at the so-and-so issue of RCBM on whatever page for pix or an article that covers their question/problem.
BTW, I failed to mention earlier that your Editorial was very good also.

I certainly peruse RC Zone for inspiration (I want to know what’s hot and what everyone wants to see), but no one ever rips anyone off or plagiarizes. Sometimes it might look that way. For example, we have an upcoming how-to that is very similar to a helpful and in-depth thread someone posted here very recently. It's purely coincidence. I received the article about a month ago, but it won’t be printed for a few months which would make it look like it or part of it came from these threads. There’s a lot of great information on these threads, but our writers know their stuff and write all of their own material.

Thank you very much for the compliment on the editorial. While the LSH article has been in the works for a very long time, I most certainly did have your “What would it take to get you to race?” thread on my mind when I wrote the related editorial.

Also, please check your PMs when you get a chance.
