Novak’s Black Box Power Supply just got more powerful. The original Black Box’s amperage has been increased from 4.5 amps to 5.0 amps (#4905). A 9-amp model (#4910) is now also available. Both models are 12-Volt DC Switching Power Supplies that allow you to conveniently operate your DC charger from a wall socket. The small and lightweight power supplies accept universal AC input of 110-240 VAC. The compact size makes it ideal for easy storage and for transporting to and from the track.

The #4905 Black Box 5A power supply is currently available. The #4910 Black Box 9A power supply is scheduled to ship May 2005.

now that is smart, and not a bad price for 9 amps

I'm surprised they didn't upgrade the box sooner. I don't think you can really do much with 4.5 amps. Any idea if there are any upgrades planned for the N-power after the new black box and novak ionic charger developements.

what exactly does that do

Basically a large external DC converter for high level chargers. With the specific power suppy doing to the job of converting AC-DC current, and not just a little AC-DC transformer boxed into a lower end charger, you get a much "cleaner" energy source with fewer engery spikes and variations. Not necessary for bashing, but racers love em. Especially considering that most high leval race chargers require an external power source.
