TNX Oversized Heat Sink Head has been specifically designed for the O.S.18 CV-RX engine and Tamiya FS-18SR engine found in the TNX Nitro Monster Truck. Utilizing CNC machined high grade 7075 aluminum, this heat sink provides lower and more stable operating temperatures. Durability is also significantly improved as well as appearance with a polished blue anodizing.

the os doesn't really need a better cooling head. The problem with these aftermarket heatsinks is that newbs to nitro think the cooler the better, and wind up leaning out their engines way too much without checking for other signs such as ap appropriate amount of smoke from the exhaust.

well thats their fault.

it looks that it would lower running temps, it does seem to have more surface area then the stock OS head, i wouldnt mind trying one.

I see no point to this head, the CV-R .18's dont seem to have any problem with running hot.

Well, as is says in the product release, it's more durable (milled 7075 aluminum vs. cast), provides slightly lower running temps, and it's better looking. The head was probably developed more for the Tamiya engine, but being that engine is built by O.S. and it's virtually identical to the .18 CV-R, I think they're just letting you know that it fits that engine as well. It's probably a more useful head on the Tamiya engine because the upper fins aren't going to bend as easily as the stock head, which is quite different than the head on the CV-R - the head on the O.S. engine is little better out of the box. Is this head absolutely necessary on either engine? Probably not, but since when is necessity a requirement when it comes to upgrading and customizing your rig? ;)

Good points Steve!! I have no experience with the TNX .18 so it may be a very usefull mod for that engine and a little extra durability never hurts;)

Hey don't discourage Tamiya from making hop ups for the TNX. At least they are making stuff now for the TNX. I think the head is more for looks as the stock head does look kind of whimpy. This head does make the engine look a little beefier.

The stock head on the Tamiya engine is very fragile. I've seen 3 of them break off during really hard roof lands. Yes they are breaking because of user error but still shouldn't snap off in one piece where the main body of the head is bolted to the engine. This is a great upgrade and probably less money then the OS head.

Sorry, didn't mean to offend anyone. I own a cvrx and have no problems with overheating, and but have no experience with the tamiya version of the engine, so I should have kepty my mouth shut. I guess I see no reason to get this head for the cvrx, but like said above, there's absolutely nothing wrong with customizing your ride.
