I just got my Aug 05 issue of RCBM and while I liked the big picture of me and my Bardahl in the article, I was a little dissapointed in the lack of coverage for the event.
I've spoke with Rick Eyrich and Jerry Dunlap who spent quite a bit of time on the articles and pictures but all we got was 2 paragraphs on the weather and location of the hotel?
I suppose I wouldn't be so dissapointed but your past efforts have been outstanding in this area. I wrote the 2003 Electric Nats article and was blown away with the great job you did when you put it up last year. It made me want to do another and I would have done the 04 nats story had Rick not opted for it.
I know there are probably budget issues that dictate what makes it and what doesn't, but these articles really feed the grass roots of our sport. We all want to know who did what with what boat, motor, prop and hear about the drama. Knowing that the Hotel was just feet away from the lake comes up short for me.
Sure, you can put that information on the web, But that won't help me in a year or 10 years from now when I take that trip down memory lane. And yes, I've still got issues dating back to 1990 that my son and I love to look at.
By the way, there is a link on the article that says "click Trip for the winners of the 2004 NAMBA Nationals" I've looked all over the site and I can't find it.
Sorry if I sound negative, I don't mean to be, just a little dissapointed. BTW, I do appreciate the articles that Jay runs. The brushless motor article from him in this mag was well done.
Thanks,
Dick Crowe
37 NAMBA and APBA Electric National championships
55 NAMBA and APBA Electric Straight-line and Oval records
(you mentioned you liked it when people rated themselves, hope this helps)
