Ive seen a couple of topics in this section on the 1/5th scale cars, but none on the F1 cars. I own one of these and was just wondering if there is anyone else on here who has one?If you do, please share pics and tell me about your car(upgrades etc). At the moment mine is the standard FG F1. Im planning on upgrading to the Hydraulic disc brakes and hopefully some carbon fibre parts soon. Ive atached some pics of my car for thos who are interested.

James.

We've got a great 1/5th scale track not too far from here, I race (used to) 1/5th scale sedans. One of the local racers picked up an FG F1, man, what an awesome car! He bought it in hopes of creating some interest in the class.
So he decided to run it during a 2 hour endurance race at our track, which required that you had at least 3 additional drivers on your team. You had to change out drivers every 15 minutes. Well, the owner of the car had made a bad choice in one particular team member - really nice guy, but horrible... HORRIBLE driver. Needless to say, we watched the car suffer a tremendous amount of damage over the course of his 15 minute "stint". 75 yard cartwheels, 50 mph collisions with the catch fence at the end of the back straight. Both front and rear wings were destroyed, the pipe was flattened , hydraulic brake lines were yanked out, the chassis was badly bent, the body was badly damaged. It nearly brought a tear to my eye - really would have had I not already known how bad a driver this guy was, and a few people had already warned the owner. Heck, I think the guy that did the damage even told him he'd wreck his car.
Don't know why I felt compelled to tell the story. I guess it's because this was the only thread I've seen about the F1 since then.

Those are pretty cool. How much did you pay for them and how do they handle?

The FG F1 Comp with hydraulics is $2400. 1/5 scales run for around 35 min on a tank of gas.

Well, this isn't an F1 car but it is an FG 1/5th scale.

CAT semi. On road sportsline chassis, disc brakes, sway bar kit. 23cc Zenoah.

Total cost after buying the chassis $765, Body $172, Decals $40, and the FM radio, failsafe, 1/4 scale servo, high torque/speed servo for throttle and brake, paint for the body (five cans), and building the five cell SubC 3300 mah receiver pack it was about $1,300 for mine.

I'd guesstimate it does 50mph EASILY. I have a 1/5th scale MT5 and it has been radared at 46mph, and this semi is faster in top end by far. I'll have to get my semi radared one of these days. The F-1 cars are MUCH faster.

This looked like the perfect thread to say hello. :) I just found this site and wanted to stop in, say hello, add comments and show off pictures of cars too. Hope you all enjoy this as much as i do. It is a picture of 2 cars that I painted for the ROAR 5th scale Nationals held at 301 Raceway in Brandywine, Maryland. Both cars are FG Comp. F-1's with hydro brakes, carbon fiber chassis, Samba racing pipes and MMR gear drive conversions on the in board side so there is no more internal belt.

Nomadio you guys talk with Troy at largescalerc.com? he is building an off road 1/5th scale track. Rumor has it he is hosting a race later this year. I assume track needs finished before that gets going. I know the lay out is done, dirt is there, waiting on the earth mover(excavators) guys to come finish the track.

I really am liking the large scale RC racing. These things handling and driving characteristics are so much more scaled then anything I have been around RC.

Hi to all,
I am very new to this - I have a 1/5 scale f/glass body of a Ferrari F2000, and am looking for other parts to make it into a full car. I suspect the 1/5 R/C cars in this thread could be what I am looking for...
I have never seen this scale of R/C gear in any shop, sp wonder if anyone can point me to any websites that sell either the full car, or better still replacement parts - rims, tyres, wings, suspension etc

Many thanks in advance for any advice anyoen can give :)
