i just got a 1967 mustang floor pans are gone alone with the fender aprons ( rust sucks) i have big plans for the car. A 400 horse 302 small block which i will have boared to a 347 or i will use AFR heads they give you 100 HP out of the Box!!!!!! i will paint it dupont pepper gray metalic and use either black stock inerior or go with the black shelby interior by the way its a coupe. if anyone has pics of any car restoration or questions for me post them here (post some stang pics plz) i have been resoring mustangs for a while now.

You think heads will give you 100hp without any other mods??? I'll have to check that, but it seems WAY optimistic to me. Also, 302's give 290hp/290lb-ft stock. I'm not saying it's impossible, I'd just be suprised if you could get that much just from heads and a little boaring. Any pics?

The heads will give 100 with the help of new rockers and a 27 degree over stock cam i found the artice titled 400 HP ON PUMP GAS when i did a google search of ford 302 you can read the article by searchig 400 hp on pump gas it was written by the folks at car craft i belive. Sorry i have no picks YET!!!!!
I have one too. I'll post pix tomorrow. I agree..... RUST SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hehe Southern California...what's RUST :D
A 400 HP 302 would be a piece of cake. Running it on pump gas and keeping it naturaly asparated is the tough part.
Would be easer and cooler and cheeper if it were a Bow Tie :D
There are way too many F.O.R.D jokes!

I got most of my parts from either mustangs plus or mustangs unlimited (they both have websites) you can request a catalog from both companys
they both carry almost everything. I do have to replace a quarter pannel skin thanks for reminding me :( i will buy it from mustangs plus and weld it on then its off to paint. By the way i got almost all of my engine parts from summit they are great as well
What is with this website?? I wanted to post some pix for you guys but is says their too large. Anyone know of a website I can put them and give links???

Heres my other baby. ;) 1981 coupe. She go wider tires since this pic and shes getting a V-8 this summer and some new interior and hopefully a paint job. Not a real pretty car but will be fast. :D I'm also going to stick with the orange

In some ways (the part about it being fast, but not pretty), it reminds me of my uncle's first (or second, I can't remember) car: an AMC Gremlin X (with a V-8). Should be interesting, though.

If you have trouble getting your pix small enough to post, I use the Kodak program to re-size my pix. You can download it free off their site.
I kind of know hwat you're going through with the 'stang resto. My brother had a 64-1/2 as his first car and got a '65 rag top that he restored to be a driver, not a Concours ride. Try to find an exhaust manifold for the 6-banger! They had a big problem with them cracking. Those cars are gone but he now has an 2007 Shelby on order. It looks like his 'Vette's are going too. Poor kid has 2 of those.
Chris, I had a '73 Gremlin X that I bought new. Not fast with the 235 but with the light rear-end, that thing sure could smoke the L-60's on the back!

Yep. My uncle's a mechanic, and he actually modified his to be fast. He could smoke my dad off the line (my dad was driving his modded '70 340 'cuda)

There was an AMC dealer in Arizona that sold Gremlin's with 401's under the hood. I don't know how the rear axle took the HP but one from a Chevy II (Nova) was a bolt-in.
OK, back to the 'Stang thang. We stole his thread again.
No, haven't done anything on it:( My dad did order a new welder to finish it(little one he had took a crap) And we're working on cleaning out the garage so we can have some room to work:D

i know how that goes i have to clean out my garage this weekend :( it is a mess and i donat have room for the car so it will get clean i might even post pics once the place is clean. Any way i have the car in primer but there is still soooooooooooo much to do what condition is your wiring harness in? rats had dinner with mine
Mine seems to be awsome. There was mice all over in mine when we got it but they didn't get under the dash.:D The floorpans were rusting through, and the defroster vent things above the dash are getting replaced with plastic ones. I don't remember what thier called(its been a while):D Everything else is in pretty good shape.

Ahh man, I leave this board/hobby to start the Resto on my '72 Chevelle, and what do I find when I come back just to see how everyone is doing? FORD RESTOS!! EEEEWWW!!!!!!
Anyhow I think I've got it worse then all of you.. Here is a brief list of what I have to replace on my chevelle..
-Both Quarter Panels
-Both Rear Wheel Wells (Inner and Outter)
-Full Floors
-Rear Seat Pan
-Repair the Cowl Area
-Both Fenders
-Core Support
-Possibly Hood.
-Pass Door
That is just a brief list of unsalvagable Rusty Parts.. I bought my chevelle from Virginia where it lived it's entire life (sat for 20years in a field... :( ) The car however is an Original Burnt Orange Chevelle with a 402 BB and a 4-speed Bench Combo.. It's a TRUE SS and has 35k original miles...
Here's what I am Planning to do to it:
-Candy Orange Paint (Originally Burnt Orange) w/ Black Stripes
-402 BBC (550hp/575lb ft.)
-TKO-600 5-Speed Tranny
-Bench Seat/Manual Interior
Anyhow, here is a pic of what it looked like when I got it.. I don't have any recent pics......

My uncle has a 68 that he tore a lobe off the cam or something because it won't run. I am going to try to buy it from him. It is the 396 but it can light up the tires in all 4 gears:D
rc10gtisthebest
07-26-2005, 12:42 PM
ejp, is it an original 396? If it is where is your uncle? Would he consider selling it?
-Todd
Thats the only problem. No its not the original. It came out of a truck. It is an original SS though. No, I don't think he wants to sell it but I was going to ask him. He just went through a hard devorce too. I really want the car though:D
Hey, mustang. Do you know where I can get a door that fits like factory??? We ordered a skin for the drivers door, pulled the original off and went to put the new on on. It fits like crap. Where the fender and the door meet at the top where there are those sweeps up above the body line, well the skin is straight w/no curve to it:( Well, now we either have to find a better quality skin or just get a whole door from NPD for 350.00. They said it is a factory fit:D "they have tried them".:D
mustangman05
08-11-2005, 06:11 PM
ejp the doors that my buddy told me to use are from mustangs plus. he said the NPD ones rubbed the fender at full open position on his 72 mach 1. Did you see that new 1 peice floor pan $660  I am working on trying to figure out this wiring we put a battery on the car last weekend to test every thing lights etc... and i have a short somewhere.Maybe when we get both of them done we could drive em somewhere and take a look at each others (maybe to a pond to do a little model boating to!) :D
Well, we got the door from NPD. It fits good. The only problem is... where it bolts to the bottom hinge it doesn't go in far enough to be flush with the rocker panel. So, we are going to just make the hinge holes bigger for it to go flush. I'm really sorry to hear about your wiring. Mine is perfect:D And the last sentence you said sounds like a plan to me:D
