Definitly a gas question. :p

Has anyone ever used a one way valve for venting a tank? Was picking up the family dog from the groomer/pet store & noticed the aquarium supplies. There was some of these things laying around that plugs into the air supply line. Its supposed to keep water from backing up & going into the pump in case it ever shuts down. Makes me wonder if they could be used instead of doing the old trick of using a film cannister with pin holes. For a buck ea. they could be worth a shot.

I use them but I use Dubro one way valves made for gas. I am not sure the ones you are referring to will hold up long using gasoline.

Here is the one I use....not Dubro though.

Auto parts stores have them. Echo weedeaters also use them on their tank vent - the Echo repair stores sell a real nice one. I use those. Just be sure you stow the check valve where it won't suck up bilge water while you run.
