hello i am in the process of trying to decide between a rc18t and my e stampede.this is my situation: right now i have a hoped up stampede taht is ready for a brushless but does not run because i don't have the brushless or a radio.See i am not sure if i should keep up on my stampede or sell it and all my batteries and stuff.Right now i have $140 almost enough to buy a used ss5800 and i am trading 4 of my 8 batteries for a xs3 that would get my stampede running. But i am looking at it and i have started a backyard track for mini's and at the local track they have a carpet track with jumps! i really want to race and the rc18t seems like it would be less $$$ to keep it running. As you cn see $$$ is a big deal since i ahve very very little of it lol.Sooo i am trying to decide if i should get my stampede running or sell it for a rc18t with hop ups and a mamba. The only thing that worries me about the rc18t is how much fun i could have with it since of the low ground clearance. And my fear in the stampede is that it will probaly $$$ to up keep.SOO guys my questions for you #1 which one will i have more fun with? #2 how much of a price difference is it to keep the stampede running vs the rc18t? #3 What kind of terrain can the rc18t go on? #4 whats your opinions on which one i should go with. Right now i see that the stampede has more potentle becasue its 1/10th scale and there are lots of vehicles that i could get where with the rc18t i can only hop up a rc18t to a sertain point. I also REALLY want to race and with the rc18t i can and with the stampede i can't please guys help me out before i make the wrong choice.thanks in advance ethan peace

If you REALLY want to race, I guess you answered your own question.

I had a nitro stampede, it was a fun truck, but I missed the 4wd. I now have an RC18T, with mamba/3s lipo.

Any smooth dirt is fair game, like baseball diamonds, dirt roads, sand, beaches... that sort of stuff. I ran it down a railroad track and it could handle the grey rocks used to support the tracks. All in all, its a pretty capable little truck. However while it will go over grass, it seems to take a lot of power so I don't drive on grass.

I have no idea on how much maintenance your stampede takes. Since installing the mamba, I've needed a new dogbone, new diff gears, new spur gear, and my tires are currently bald. In stock form the RC18T is dang near free to run. With a mamba, you'll wear out parts quickly, but on the flip side diff gears are only 4 bucks. I think they're 40 for my buggy's gears.

I recall the stampede being pretty durable. I didn't go through tires too quick, or break too many parts with it. So its probably pretty cheap to operate. I'm going to guess that a stampede will cost a bit less than a mamba 18T to run. But more than a stock 18T.

I'd probably recommend the 18T. One of the great parts of the hobby is being around other people with the same interest. Racing is a lot of fun, so I encourage it.

First, 1/10 is a lot stronger. You also won't break as much parts, but its kinda relevant to it's power. 2nd, I belive traxxas parts are a LOT cheaper than the associated stuff. Just cuz it's 1/18 doesn't mean it will be cheaper. 3rd, the traxxas will be much faster brushless than even a brushless 18T. Also, I think the traxxis is a much better basher and fun car. I guess if you want to race, then go with the 18t, but if It was my choice, I wouldn't second think that and keep the Stampede.

If you can race the Associated at the local track, I would DEFINITELY go for the 1/18 scale. ;) Racing is the BOMB! :p

I gotta disagree on this one. Smaller scales are way more durable. And for speed, I bet a 18T would give a stampede a real run for the money. You gotta remember the stampede isn't so great at turning, and is limited by wheelies on acceleration, and limited by 2wd. The 18T does not.

[QUOTE]If you REALLY want to race, I guess you answered your own question.
well see i do want to race but i am looking at it and it looks like i will be able to bash ALOT more then race.My big concerns are #1 The potentle of the rc18t i mean right now there isn't one other 1/18th car that i like and i can only hop it up to a cartain point but with the stamepde i can keep the eletonics and get a couple of other cars #2 the cost if i am going with the rc18t then later on i would want to get a stampede and the eletronics (mostly a ss5800) and right now i am very close to getting my stampede going and to come back to 1/10th from 1/18th would be exspensive it would be cheaper to go from to 1/10th to 1/18th. right now i am sort of leaning toward going with the stampede then to a rc18t but i still need your guys' help because i am a weary thanks ethan

keep the stampede man...ya right 1/18's are more durable...minis break way more!!i own a xxxt for both racing and bashing. i jump it off the top of my garage...i wouldnt dare do that with a mini. 1/10 are way more capable. believe me if you get the 18t you'll be sorry because even though you would be able to race, you would still want to bash a little at home which will probably happen the most. minis can go through grass...at 0.5mph and even then you get stuck. they are also slower in most cases. the ground clearance is around a inch:(. my friend got a mini. he's not to happy...
the bottom line is keep the stampede. you can always save up after you get the stampede up and runnin and buy a 18t

Well id go with the stampede if ur gonna bash around and stuff, in fact a year back or so car action did an aweosome build up of a stampede. u ti also have a 18t but i use it as a speed machine on the pavement and for racing, so not much bashing , i save that for my multiple savages!

Do they do any 1/10 scale offroad-ish racing by you? You may want to go with a stadium truck and monster it up with monster style tires like masher 2000s. The vehicle will outperform your Stampede no problem. We used to race monster trucks, with the rules being it had to have a lifted body and monster style tires, the modified monsters using T4, XXX-T, or T3 chassis were fast and fun and outhandled the bigger E-Maxxes and tippy stampedes. Was nice also that I could bash around, and with a change of the tires a some other minor settings (pinions, etc ) it was ready to race again.

I have seen guys bash with the RC18T and they have fun, especially with that new monster version and can race too.

Yes they do have 1/10th racing but i am thinking thats going to be a bit too $$$ plus the t4,t3, and xxx-t arne't really made for bashing.thanks ethan
