Well guys, i am finally going to do it!! The boat will be about 49" by 15", and have the same dead rise as the mean machine. Right now I am going to get all the parts, and was wondering if i should get this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=34058&item=5975879478&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW) engine. If not, could you guys direct me to a nicely (low) priced zenoah, preferably with a clutch. I also have no idea what size running hardware I will need, so any help there would be great! I just got a new laptop as my primary computer, and formatted the harddrive on the old computer before getting all the links off of it :o so please give me some good websites to look around on! Thanks again for all your help guys!! :D

Never ran a Homi, but would still drop the extra money & buy a Zeni. $240+ 10 for shipping new for 260's. You can get a used one stock for high teens to low two's. Also the ebayer has very good feedback for the numerous transactions. Seems ok.
The only link I have on my folks computer is Jims (http://p086.ezboard.com/fjimsrcboatdockfrm3)

I know about the bonzi dealer on ebay, just wanted to know your opinions before I made any decisions. If you can find a good one with a clutch and mounts, i would be exstatic!
What do you guys think of these, I would use the complete engine, and keep the other as a backup (or build another boat :D ) and sell it later on.

Sure thing! Just send me a couple $$ lol. Anyways, I took your advice and I am bidding on this nice Bonzi 260!

It doesn't have a clutch, but I can always get one later.

Well, I got this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5976778513) one! No pretty anodized head, but black goes with everything. I am also getting the speedworld mounts like you suggested DD. Took a look at the Bonzi and compared it to the Speedworld, and Speedworld is better hands down! Hopefully I start cutting out parts tomorrow!!! :D :D

If you get one from Bonzi you should have no problem they are great people to deal with. Get a Marine specialities get the quickclutch I have two they work great and they polish up nicley.

You think their clutch will work on a G260? It is designed for a G23.

Yes. The clutches will work on the Zeni's we use. Very good deal on the engine also. I've seen that boat over at jims & its a beaut.

I have started the build!! I am on day 3, and I haven't had time to post pictures. Hopefully I will have time to post pictures tomorrow. DD- what prop do you reccommend, and how much would it cost me for you to sharpen and balance it??? It is 49" by 15" with the zeni 260. Also looking for some good hardware that wont clean out the bank.

Will the WHH easy start handle work with the speedworld mounts???
If not, where can I find a handle that will work? Or will I need to make my own?

So much for posting pictures.... anyways, the boat is almost done! All i need to do to finish the hull is put the deck on. I have been doing a mock-ip of all the parts, and so far it looks great!! It has the enforcer spd3 dual rudder drive system, enforcer canister exhaust, prather 275... I got the hitec agressor fm and i am going to use the third channel as a remote kill switch. thats where the failsafe will hook up (as soon as i get one) Now for a question. I have a blue bird standard size high torque with metal gears and dual bb servo rated at 144oz/in in the 6v setup. I also have a tower hobbies TS-80 Servo S2K 2BB Giant Scale rated at 275oz/in in the 4.8v setup, 343 in the 6, but it draws so much power that it comes with a Y harness so the batteries connect directly to the servo! Now which servo do you think i should use? The batteries i use are 2000 mAh per cell. Also, where can i find a 5 cell battery case??
I PROMISE to post pics soon!!

5 cell battery case has been asked before without much success. Enforcer start handle & SW mounts? Don't know till you try it. If anything you'll be able to sell it for a good price if it doesn't work. Now what about those pics?

I can tell you from first hand knowledge the handle will not work. I made a bracket out of alum that is bolted between the rails and attached the handle to that.

Always try and use a 6 volt pack. You get far more torque with the six volt pack and if your running dual rudders you will need as much torque as you can get. Why use twin rudders if you dont need them, if the rudder is the right size and placed right it should turn fine. The y harness is good if you need loads of torque to the servo, but will drain you pack alot quicker, ive ran boats up to 50 inches plus and never used it and had no probs. its all to do with getting the setup right. Aslo try and use a tunned pipe instead of the stock one, double the power by just bolting it on. Never used a starting handle, just hold the cooled head when starting, never had any problems and less weight.

I will eventually be getting a tuned pipe, but for now, I just don't have the funds :( So you guys think I should use the 1/4 scale servo instead of the high torque std??
Chris LaPanse
06-08-2005, 04:14 PM
You could get either one, but I wouldn't go less than 180-200oz-in regardless of servo type.

so long as its a high torque one it should be ok, 160 plus should be ok unless youve over rudderd it. An inch and a half below the bottom of the prop for your rudder depth and no more. Use six volts to get the max out of your servo, but if you use the twin rudder set up, get as much torque as you can. If you dont it will still turn the rudders but it will strugle and be slow. 1/4 scale or standard doesnt matter, its the torque they put out that matters.

The high torque std is 144@ 6.0v the 1/4 is 343@ 6, with the same transit times as the std. So i will use the 1/4 and throw the std in my hammer. I have a prather p275 for my prop, but i have heard some good stories about the x470/3. Think i should try it out?? And as for a tuned pipe, unless you can show me a water cooled complete kit with header and all for $100 or less, i just cant for now :o. I just found out about a local boat club (only one in a city of 1.3million...), so i think i am going to have to race now  I just hope they dont have anything with a pro mod zen or a qd in it

well, using an X470/3, my Manta with an EZ-25 (G260) really woke up. Also, a boater at the local pond swears by them - won't run his boat on anything else. P275's also work well though. Try them both, and see which works better.

yeah but try the new x572 3 blade, 2 mm bigger with alot more pitch, great for tunned motors, cut the toungue off it and back cut it, they fly.

I didn't know they had that prop. Now I'll have to try it sometime.

its new, had mine about 2 months now got it of prestwich racing they wernt even advertised then lol, if its a tunned motor they work a treat when modded.

HELLO Everyone. Thats awesome??!! How hard is this to do with moderate skills? Im new to the site and boats, but have been into nitro offroad for years. I just have a nitrohammer for now, but plan on doing one of these eventually. What is bonzais website addy?? also, what type of paint did yo use to paint your nitrohammer?? Nice job so far, keep us posted!!-

Honestly, if you know how to cut wood and lay fiberglass, you can build one of these no problem! It does take time though, and patience. This is my first time actually building a boat, and I have had no problems at all! The paint is krylon fusion, don't use it, it wrinkled up on me and i have still yet to redo the hatch. Bonzi is http://www.bonzisports.com/
That green hose you see in the radio box is going to connect to an autobailer. The autobailer will be in the transom, with the hose going through the radio box bulkhead to keep the radio box water tight. Is this a good idea, or is it destined to fail?

I am also building this boat. However, I am following Chilly's version. I like the look of the formed deck.
It is a very easy boat to build. You don't even have to glass it. A lot of guys just do it anyway, but there really is no need.
I really haven't decided what engine I will be using on this one, but I have a feeling I will go with one of my 4 echo engines.
I will have pics soon after I fabricate the rudder system.

loookin good micho!!!
are you going to paint it or leave the wood finish?!?!?!?!!?
Micho523

I decided on wood finish.... for now. Got a sick paint scheme in mind if i do ever paint it. The boat is done minus servos, they apparently got lost in the mail, so i gotta call tower today. :( Been 11 business days since they were shipped and there not here.
Gotta love the USPS...

SHE IS DONE!!!
I ran her for the first time today, and all I can say is WOW! I want to post pictures, but i didn't get the camera out before i broke the plastic hub on the pull start :( I e-mailed bonzi to see if it was under warranty. I have come across a metal peice before, but i can't seem to find it. I am pretty sure it was on the bhhanson site, but i just cant find it! Anyone else know where to find this peice, or the entire pull start with the metal hub?
