HPI Racing is proud to introduce the next level of Savage and truggy performance: Mounted Nubz Tires! The Nubz tires feature an innovative narrow design for accurate steering response and quick acceleration on the track. The high performance rubber compound is soft and sticky, optimized for high grip on dirt tracks. The rounded contour allows consistent traction on uneven surfaces, high grip in the corners, and low resistance on straightaways. The race-tested Nubz tread pattern and soft compound rubber provide superior grip on dirt surfaces for fast lap times. Internal tire ribs allow the use of soft compounds while adding strength to the tire for extreme durability and helping avoid deformation at high speeds. The included precision molded inserts fit perfectly inside the tires, providing accurate support. No trimming necessary!

Specially designed dish wheels have a horizontal wheel groove which isolates the glue joint from centrifugal force, increasing the life of the glue for less tire and wheel separation. Oversized 17mm hex design strenghtens the hub/wheel connection to prevent stripped wheels with powerful engines and during extreme driving. The wheel itself is molded from high strength nylon, and the lightweight Race-Fit dish design delivers sleek aerodynamics and protection from dirt. The overall weight of the mounted Nubz tires is 35% lighter than the stock Savage wheel and tire, delivering faster lap times and improved handling.

Sold in pairs, the Nubz tires mounted and glued on dish wheels. Three different wheel colors are available: white, black and yellow. Nubz tires fit truggies and buggies that use 17mm hex hubs, and will fit the Savage when used with HPI 17mm Hex Hub Conversion Set (#87229) or HPI Universal Joints with 17mm hex hubs (#87233).

For use with the Savage, it must be used with our 17mm Hex Hub adapter.

Cool :)

I'm curious about weight...

And why they don't make them with a 23mm hub ??

Pro-Line is the only company making wheels with a 23mm hex. I think all 1/8 buggies and some truggies use 17mm, so that's probably why they went with 17mm instead. The market for 17mm hex wheels is much larger.

The tires probably weigh a little more than something like the similar Panther tires due to the added internal ribs, but not a whole lot more. The HPI Dirt Bonz are pretty light, so I bet these are a bit lighter than those.

One thing that interests me about these is the description of the way the tire bead is mounted to the wheel. If/when they sell the tires and wheels separately, I guess we'll find out if the beads are like those on buggies or like the Revo tires.

I think this is a great idea, keep up the great work HPI!

I like them they remind me of responce tires but diffrent rims, I just hope they're of legal size for racing.Id like to put those hubs on my revo(too bad). the proline 23mm hub seems to be causeing broken pins and stub axels, these seem to get away from that problem by using what apears to be an 8mm axel.

I bet these tires will not be legal for racing. Didn't Panther not be allowed to use it's komodo T-maxx tires because of this similar design? I think so. But HPI has a lot more pull on governing racing bodies so the rules may change for their new product

No, HPI nor Panther have extra "pull" with the governing bodies (ROAR nor RCPro).

The width of these tires are smaller than current rules allow for what is currently Standard Monster Truck (where the Savage fits), though the height does fit. These would fit within the current specs for the "Super Duper Monster Unlimited Hybrid Buggy with wide tires" class

Converting Millimeters to inches comes up with approximately:
5.63" x 2.68

I'm just interested the 17mm hubs. This would allow Savage guys to use the Dominator dish wheels with any standard size tires.

Too much offset! You will end up with a really wide truck. The wheels that come on the Dominator are very positively offset so that the truck can be made wider without making longer suspension arms. If you place these wheels onto an already very wide Savage you will end up with a really wide truck.

I had installed the 17mm hex adapters onto my T-Maxx and put the Dominator wheels onto it. It was one tire width wider than than a stock T-Maxx with this setup.

Good point, PCC. That is a down side to a lot of the 17mm wheels out already. Seeing that HPI now makes the adapters for the Savage, I'm sure they'll market more than just a few sets of wheels to fit the 17mm hex. I've had a set of Monster Pirate mounted tires for a while now because I don't have the proper machinery to modify the buggy adapters so I can run them on my Savage. With these new adapters, I could, though as mentioned, the offset would be pretty wide. Plus, I'd have to switch to using dog bones again, which I still have from my kit, because I built my SS with CVDs. Dangit, I'd like to use those honkin MP tires without so much offset. *grumble*
