No. The EMAXX EVX speed controller runs at 14.4 volts and needs motors designed to run on 14.4 volts. I'm assuming the 17 Turn Double Speed Gem Amber's is a 540 motor designed to runs on only 7.2 volts. The Amber may look like a stock emaxx motor, but they are totally apples and oranges.

Yes. But watch how hot the EVX gets.As far as the Speed Gems go thay can be ran on 12 cell+ but you will need the check your brushs a lot more offen.

the voltage doesnt matter-the esc is designed to handle 14.4 volts and it regulates that voltage to the motors-any motor (or two) can be run in the emaxx with the evx (down to 10 turns i think)

The EVX is designed to handle twin 19T 550-sized motors at 14.4V (12 cells), which is equivalent to two 24T-25T 540 motors at that voltage. I would not at all recommend running the Speed Gems at anything over 10 cells maximum...but even at 7.2V (the SG's rated voltage) they will be drawing a lot more amps than the 550 Titans would. I'm not sure that the EVX could cope with the amp draw, despite the lower voltage (over 10 cells, the SG's will burn up like crazy).
I suggest running them at maybe 8 cells, and keeping an eye on the temperature of the EVX.

This is crazy. Once again, its apples and oranges guys. You can't plug a 540 motor into the evx (designed for 550 motors) and expect good things.

I mean sure, you can also plug a drill into a 220 volt outlet too. It will run for a little while, and it will be crazy fast, but will soon fry because its designed to run on 110 volts.

You can't plug a 540 motor into the evx (designed for 550 motors) and expect good things. No its not apples and oranges. You can run any 540/550 motor if it is not to low of a turn. You just have to watch how hot your EVX gets and how fast your brushs ware out. Here are the specs for the EVX motors 19t-27t Amps forward 160 reverse 160 and continous 30.Oh 320 for braking. No where does it say you can not use 540 motors with it. But these are towerhobbies specs. So as long as your motors do not draw to many amps the EVX will be ok.
