I just got my HPI PRO3 and, i am not a true racer or anything just having fun and blah blah blah. Maybe later i will enter the scene but for now, my PRO3 is messing up. It runs great, but sometimes it'll spaz out and do what it wants. it used to do it only at around 75ft away so I figured the radio couldn't reach too far (Futaba AM radio). But i went into the radio section and they said i might have a short but i check all my wires and they are all good. They do run near my ESC, so maybe the heat is getting to them?

I had it out today and it was working great in the basement, took it out side and it just freaked out within 10ft of me. turning where ever it wanted, flooring it everywhere. Then after that, the radio crapped out and wouldn't control it. I am letting it cool right now and try it once more.

Is there a place i could send my car to get repaired? or does anyone have any info on this? Thanks a lot!!

Try your local hobby shop. They can really fix it for a real low price, and they should know whats up with your car.

Did you droped the radio? The same thing happend to me once, ended up having to buy a new radio, the after I did, I rememberd that I had droped the radio.

Something else that could be is, maybe the receiver is interfeering witht he carbon fiber.

clean your crystals with alchol or anything else and try again.

RCFUN-no, i didn't drop it. But maybe the abuse i put on the car could have messed it up. Carbon Fiber? i don't believe i have any on this car.

torlak t-I just cleaned them and will give it a shot tomorrow.

i got it running this after noon. When I take it to about 75-100ft it still gets a little jumpy and does what it wants. but it could be losing range and eventually if i get into racing i will upgrade. But THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP!!

A picture of your current setup would be great. It could help us track down sources of radio noise.

I've seen a lot of glitching radios and the most not so obvious issue is dirt in the receiver case. Shake the receiver, if you hear stuff bouncing around then open it up and clean it.

Keep main high amperage wires away from PWM signal cables.

Make sure antenna is not in contact with anything metallic.

i will try and load a pic of it today. Also, I cleaned the crystals last night and this morning, I hook it all up, drive around up stairs and it loses steering. I am not having any luck with this thing. lol. thanks again

Do you have another set of crystals you could try? Or maybe borrow some from a friend? Also, driving the car in a completely different location. There be strong interference at your current location.

Are you running it near high powered electrical lines? That can mess it all up too.

Also what are you using for batteries?

Since non one else has said it, what you're experiencing is called glitching, and is indeed the result of electrical interferrence, poor connections, batteries fading (in the Tx,) or faulty crystals.

Is this a new or used RC?

If you can, find someone with a radio like yours - AM or FM - and swap out the crystals just to test it. You could have cracked crystals. If it's new, this is very unlikely.

Reroute those wires too.

The interference problems you are encountering could be one of many things, you get no problems when radio is in close, but acts up when the distance increases.
1. receiver - loose antenna wire or something inside that is causing a breakup of the signal.
2. Motor- most Epics (Trinity brand) come with surface mounted capacitor (they control the amount of motor noise which can cause radio interference) the Reedy MVP Stock must have at least 2 1.0Uf Micro Farad Capacitor(some are blue in color), the other could be motor needing some maintanance - brushes worn depending on type brush springs may not be providing adaquate tension (allowing brush to bounce - which would cause more problems with interference as motor is spinning faster).
3. Battery power find something DVM or volts meter to check the condition of the batteries both in the radio and in the car. Even a brand new package of batteries may be bad or even though charger is shutting off the pack that runs vehicle may not be properly charged.
4. Mount the receiver using two pieces of servo tape, three to provide added protection to help absord shock, when routing the antenna keep it away from other power wires and away from chassis. Check wires for fraying/cracks.
If those things don't eliminate or solves the problem you may have to try swapping each component to finally eliminate it (use the same radio brand do not try other brands) 1. swap either the RX (receiver crystal) use one on the same channel as TX (radio) or swap them both 2. if you are experience and comfortable open the receiver case - use a small flat screwdriver press the tab to release it and open it. Look for antenna and place it should be soldered to if it looks frayed or the solder joint seems loose that could be it, also look at the circuit board and socket where crystal is plugged for possible breaks. For the radio that too may have to be opened, small philips and 6-8 screws have to be removed (depending on which model you have). Lay radio so front (is facing down) then remove each screw, remove the back cover and look at the area where antenna is screw into the socket - sometimes the screw that hold the small wire and antenna becomes loose (especially with some that you have to screw out in order to transport or store). If that looks okay look at the battery contacts for corrison or the tabs may not be making good contact. Clean them up with a stiff bristel toothbrush use light pressure if using a wire bristle brush.
Sometimes there are background interference from cell phone towers, electrical power lines or mirco wave transmitters which can effect AM radios more than FM bands but shouldn't be casing day in and day out continued inteference.
