The aluminum one is a one piece design and the plastic one is a two piece design. The plastic stock pipe seems to melt(thats why i got the aluminum one). if the stock one melts i suggest that you buy a quality aluminum pipe or try a Vantage Carbon Fibre pipe. By the way any one try the new Vantage pipes?

The stock pipe does what? It melts  ?? I think maybe someones running a tad on the lean side cos i have never heard of the stock pipe melting....ever, this is the first. You mean part of it melts or the whole thing???
I have the traxxas aluminum pipe on my 2.5 and the only real difference is the performance increase, both on the top and and low end, but mainly a boost in the low end (wheelies!) that and obviously it looks better than the stock pipe too.

Maybe they've changed the plastic somehow, I've never heard of one melting either. Did it melt just where it connects to the header, or did more of it than that melt??

Mine melted in the middle. It melted a hole through the inner cone and through the out side. made a real mess after i kept driving with a whole in the pipe. I actually melted two plastic pipes down then i got the aluminum one.

I've got a 2yr old Tmaxx and live in Texas. Its got a little over a gallon thru it and its been run when it was over 100F outside for a few hours at a time. Mine has never had that prob.
At least it gave you a real good excuse to get a tuned pipe, lol!
