Anyone who owns a Savage will say a Savage and anyone who owns a MGT will say MGT. I say MGT because I own one LOL. Get whichever you like better. Check the forums out.

These two trucks are neck in neck. I would give the "just plain old tough" nod to the Savage, but the MGT isn't far enough behind to argue about. That said, what tipped the scales for me, was how easy the MGT is to work on compared to the Savage. On the strength of that, I went with the MGT over the Savage, but since you're looking at these two, and looking at them strictly as bashers - you cannot loose. The only distinct advantage the Savage has, is parts availablilty.

I was going to say the opposite. My LHS sells mostly Traxxas. Associated, and Lossi.
But there is always ebey.

I have a savage and its one tough truck and has good speed as well, i dont regret buying it, it wasent even wat i was looking for, i was looking at the revo but decided to go with the savage, my buddy has a mgt, and it is tough but not as tough as the savage and we race together and go off the same jumps, and he ends up breaking something, not everytime though

Chutebox - That's interesting, because I see more savages break at my track than MGT's. Of course, I chalk that up to more savages/my driving being better, but still. If he's breaking stuff, as frequently as you make it sound like....something's wrong :)

I had to land my MGT smack on the butt off of jumps a bunch of times before I broke something. Im actually surprised I didnt break more stuff.
Ive got a vid demonstrating one such maneuver on my gfs DCam. Ill post it when Ive got my hands on the cam again.

like i said its not everytime, but it does happen more then me, i wonder if mabe the truck it self is a faulty one, is that possible? and exchanging it for a new MGT would be better, iono really

i think the savy 25 is tougher then the mgt just by the setup of the truck, thats just my personal opinion

If you just want the truck purley for bashing then the Sav will win it outrite. As the strength and durability of this truck is far more and better than the Mgt.I fully understand that you can make the Mgt as good as the sav for strenght and durability but all this comes at a cost as where with the sav you have already got it there in front of you .Especially if you buy the new 46 as all the weak spots that they use to have are know done already for you.
Only downfall is i suppose thats okay if you are good at building kits as unfortunally the sav 46 does only come in kit form unless you can manage to drop on a second hand one which is very doubtful. The Mgt does not come with as much as the sav so if you want to get out there and bash i would go with the sav deffy.
Hope this helps you alittle bit

Just for bashing I too vote the Savage. But either the Savy or MGT would make great bashers, the advantage for the MGT are all the RPM parts made for it. And the Savage 46 is one hell of a truck

I still don't understand why everyone thinks you have to upgrade the MGT to make it strong. In over a year, I've only broken a couple of knuckles, two shock towers, one set of suspension arms, and bent one hinge pin. All of the impacts that broke things were tremendous, most of them involved other Monster trucks (including more than one savage) and *every* time it involved another monster truck, the other truck came out in as bad or worse condition. Oh yea, and I use just stock parts, with the exception of my Ti hingepins, and there's been speculation that the stock pins wouldn't have bent. I'm not saying the Savage isn't tough. I have tremendous respect for it. I'm just saying, don't sell the toughness of the MGT short. I believe that with each trucks strengths and weaknesses taken into consideration, which truck is "tougher" is a dead heat. That's why when it came to me deciding which truck I wanted, I went with the MGT on the basis that if something *did* break, it's easier to work on.

I own both ...
OUT OF THE BOX The Savage is a better "get out there and bash" truck for sure, it has rubber bumpers for god sake lol
Now put a Savage on the racetrack and the MGT will piss all over it time and time again, the TTR .21 engine is about Par with the Savage .25 engine too ...
The MGT is my baby

Really it comes down to Coke or Pepsi...paper or plastic. You can not go wrong either way. MGT may be a slightly better racer....maybe ;)
P.S. I HATE Pepsi :D

My brother and I have MGTs. We're having a blast. From what I'm getting from this message board is that its between the Savage and MGT for bashing. Watching some of the SMF videos , I'm not sure if the MGTs could handle that kind of bashing. My brother slamed into my truck tonight, in 2nd gear. No harm?....
The tech that goes in these trucks kills me.
Do we want plastic that flexes or not?

I just got my Savage 25 from UPS guy this morning! It rocks! I just installed the reverse module also. I am going upgrade the servos to: Steering HS945MG Th&Br HS925MG! Also want to upgrade steering to bearings as well. I hope this thing runs like it looks! I'll find out this weekend!
