Hey huys,

just picked up prebuilt 1/8 on road Shock car. Not as common as a 200mm tourer, but hey i like to be different! :D

It has a .21 GS engine and 2 speed...just got to add some radio gear. :)

I'd appreciate all feedback either good or bad. Enjoy the pic!

Hi RX7RX7,
I just got one too from my local hobby shop, last one on the shelf. $600 OZ I paid. It includes everything, bar the radio. Mine has a SH .21, centax clutch, 2 speed, shiny pipe. This is my first venture into 1/8 scale on road race power. I usually drive the Landmax. I will post more info/pics when I get it up and running. Too many projects.

Hi again. My finished Shock pic. Got me the X5 box to start it. Robust thing, duel motor/battery. Will post soon the results of the RTR weapon. :D Any one else with this car, comments welcome please? Landmax fans will notice the stickers I have pilfered from my Volvo Super Eight!

I'm thinking bout gettin into 1/8th racing, and am looking into getin this car.

Thanks for the comments. I sure have driven it and it is fast, handles like it is on rails and sounds so sweeeeeeet. Needs alot of room and coming from Landmax rally, ALOT of concentration. There is no build, except for you to mount your radio. I do not race, I purchased the vehicle to contend with a mates "The fastest r/c car on the planet", and it does the job very well. This car handles!!! Easy to maintain, driven it about 10 times after break in and everything is still ok. The stock tyres were crappy. Replaced with Kyosho/Mugen/Serpent - they all seem to fit. Very happy with the car. My hobby shop in NSW - Australia has it for $549, which is about $1.80 US???

Peter

Havent been on here for a while, good to see that there are others getting into this model.
My car has a thick layer of dust on it….its going in for a dyno tune next weekend as I still have not given it a good fang since run in. Love the colour scheme Peter. I got my car from RC Hobbies in Petersham…where did you get yours from?

Same mate, RC Hobbies at Petersham. I only live around the corner. Putting a hobby shop within walking distance from my joint makes me very happy. :) They stock both Team Magic and PRP 1/8 scale on roads. I purchased the PRP too. They are both very competitive cars and alot of fun running them together. Change those crap tyres first though on the Magic. We run them at Tempe. Let me know via forum if you want to have a run one weekend. :)

Here's a link to a vid of my shock on rcgroups site:

Ok how about a company website for team magic?
i am trying to find some info on this as i'm looking to buy either this or the Power Racing XR/80
or a site with good info on it and maybe some pics under the shell other than what is in this thread, ive searched....

None of my LHS's sell team magic or power racing so i cannot talk to them or take a look in person.

Can someone please help me?

BTW thanks for the link above

Where are you located slw4red?

I got myself and two friends these cars from rchobbies and they rock!
Very tough, I crashed mine by a stupid mistake and through the process of getting parts we realised that these were not just Team Magic Shock, but were GT models.
The way to tell if your Shock is a GT, is to look at the 1st gear and if the indents are three not two,
You'll be happily surprised like me and my mates were at scoring a GT model.

This is good because you'll have a selection for gear ratios. Short, Medium and Long for both 1st and 2nd. Stock Gears are both Medium.

These cars are pre-assembled but I recommend checking all the screws especially the engine mounts both underneath the car and the ones above the
blue anodised engine mounts. The air filter also needs oil.

Check this clip out (courtesy of Traxxas) for running in the engine.

Same principles will apply to any nitro engine. Get yourself a Venom Smart temp as well as this will ensure your engine doesn't get too hot when tuning.
Good temperature is around 200 - 230 deg F MAX.

To get the most out of the SH engine here is the tuning instruction manual showing the high and low speed needles and idle adjustment.
