Looks like monster-quads could be the next big thing! Pro-Line’s too-new-for-a-name quad shell is designed to fit all popular monster trucks (once you add the appropriate body posts), and it looks like HPI’s Kawasaki rider figure could swing a leg over the saddle. Or you could hit Toys R Us and put Chewbacca on there, it’s all good.
Item no. and price info to be announced.

Pro-Line says...

Innovation is what Pro-Line is all about. From the MAXX Performance Suspension kit to the PowerStroke Shocks, Pro-Line continually releases products that or backed with quality, performance and tons of innovation. Our latest release, the Razorback Quad body, is no exception.

The Razorback is the first body geared towards high-performance monster trucks that is as durable as today’s monster truck bodies. Pro-Line’s Product Development team consumed countless hours on the project ensuring that a body of this many angles and depths would withstand the pounding of today’s monster truck. While toughness was a major pritority, so was the overall look.

The Razorback inherits its name from the styling of the razorback fender markings located on all 4 corners of the body; and, for all of you sand dune buffs, there’s nothing like riding the razorback waves of the sandy desert.

The injection molded handlebars are made of super strong nylon and come complete with 2 mounting hardware screws and backplate for a secure, worry free fit.

Personally I think it rides a little bit to high on the body, but I like the idea. The only major issue I can think of with this and the HPI body is durability. I can see those handle bars, and especially the rider on the HPI body being torn to pieces after a few good rollovers.

i dont like it. sure i like the atv styling but what about all that dirt getting in your truck. its just open. at least with other bodies they cover the sides

Pro-Line showed the body on a Revo, and looked like it was riding pretty high, mainly because everything on the Revo is so low. If you strap it onto any other "lifted" monster (like the Savage), it should look less airy under the fuel tank.

I don't see any way around the rider getting messed up. If Monster Quads turn into a real scene, I hope it doesn't devolve into "ghost quads" going around a track without riders!

The HPI body and the PL body look similar but are actually a bit different. PL designed their body to fit the T-Maxx and Revo as well as Savage. But where the Savage is narrow and can accomodate the "Ricky" rider, the PL version would have been to wide over a T-Maxx so they decided to cut the body high and not try to accomodate the Ricky rider because straddled over a Maxx his legs would have been splayed out too far. PL suggested that instead with their body you can just find any ol' doll/action figure or whatever to use as a rider. This according to what the Pro Line rep told me. :)

I can see kids now attempting to put their little brothers on them as test subjects ..... or for that matter any small furry creature ....

Does it come with a helmet too? :p

UGGLY and it doesnt look like it provides any protection, and sure as hell doesnt look to aerodynamic, i hope they will pull the plug on atv or other motor vehicle ideas other than monster trucks, keep it original

most of the dudes out there run without a body anyway.

aerodynamically speaking,i've ever seen a working aerodynamic body for MTs?the only class where body really do the difference is in onroad.other than that its all aesthetics.

If people don't buy 'em, Pro-Line and HPI won't make 'em. I think getting the figures right will be key; the guy has to look cool, be durable, and not too heavy. Foam rubber would be great, but not durable. Vinyl will probably be the way to go, like the old Kysho ATV Rider.

That has got to be one of the coolest things I've ever seen in R/C. I seen that and I couldn't stop laughing, not because it was funny but because it looks so releastic and I know that there will be a lot of die-hard monster truck fans that will hate it and think it is an outrage. But I really like it! It's a good point about handlebar durability and the necessity for a rider though. I'd love to see these things racing around with the monster trucks, it would be hilarious!

Any idea if they will make these for the LST?

Burnout
06-17-2005, 01:18 AM
That's terrible. When you copy HPI atleast making it the same or better looking. The body is mounted very high and it just does not look good compared to HPI's version.

RespirologyRC
06-17-2005, 02:11 AM
Proline has their own vidio and it is soo much better than HPI's vid. But, if you compare the two you will see that they both you the same rider. Not only this but the PL body is much wider than that of HPI.

That is pretty cool, but like others said it will not protect everyting on the chassis.

PeterV

Pro-Line didn't copy HPI, both companies simply had the same idea. Both debuted their ATV concepts at RCX--it's not like one brand had theirs out a month before the other guy.

That is AWESOME! I still have my MIP stinger on my maxx, that would look too sweet with the pipe sticking out the back.....Kudos both to Pro-Line and HPI for thinking outside the box.

I think this is the coolest thing I've seen in a long time. Such a simple concept but yet it can make the ordinary extrordinary again. I'm most certainly going to get one of these as soon as they are avialable to put it on my T-Maxx or TXT-1. The HPI one is very cool too but it seems that the release date is a bit farther out for that one.

If anyone has some pictures of theirs with and without a rider let's see them.

I'm gonna get two. One for my old Nitro Stampede (2wd race quad look) and one for my Emaxx.

After I got my two 1/5th scales I haven't touched the 1/10ths. Maybe this will give me a reason to use them now. :)

The rider seen on the HPI quad is from a Radio Shack Ricky Charmichael dirt bike (with the rider gear painted green), if you contact your local RS or call the customer service number on the RS web site they will help you order a little Ricky C. rider for your quad.

I got my quad body last week. For a rider I went to a craft store by my house that already has Holloween stuff in stock, bought a plastic skeleton and zip tied it to the body, it looks pretty cool.

Has anyone heard wether or not Pro-line is coming out with a rider for that quad? The quad looks cool by itself already, but it would look a whole lot cooler if it had a rider doing a superman-seat grab when you take the truck off of a jump.
