Engine After Run Ok I have a TRX 2.5R. Well I have burned about a gallon of trinity monster 20%. After everyone day of runing i use denatured alchol to clean and finish up with WD40 to lube the parts and prevent the mositure from corrision. But i have noticed the the piston and sleave are starting to turn black. I have not noticed any perfomance problems yet. Anyone have the same experiance?? (This is what Traxxas recommeds)

Would using something else prevent if from turning black?? Any help is appreciated!

Thanks Brad.

Mine isn't black on Traxxas 33% (not quite a gallon yet though), and I also just use WD40 and denatured alcohol for cleanup. The alcohol is only outside the engine though, and I use massive amounts of WD40 and just hold it upside down with a terry on it with the sparkplug and intake off and run the EZStart for 15 seconds. Wash out (and dry off) the intake, replace the filter, inspect and put plug back in... been doin' alright.

What temps do you see? Sounds like plain old regular deposits building up.

I would recommend that use you any after run oil but not WD 40 i know alot of people that use thi sand it is recommended by differnt RC/Companys but i still use after run oil as it is especially blended to stop wet residue and fuel particales getting settled in your engine and then this causes piston liner to start to corrode and go funny colour.

Also to be honest a bottle of Model Technics After Run Oil is something like £3.50 and last you at least 18 months if not longer as you onley need max of 5 - 7 drops every time and it will work out cheaper than WD 40.

Thats just my 2 pennies worth anyway some people will differ but they always do

I'd also suggest after run oil. All you need is 2 or 3 drops down the glow plug hole and 4-5 down the carb. Make sure to turn over the engine a few times afterwards and make the sure the carb is A) open when you put it and B) Open and close it a few times to work the oil around.

Marvel Mystery Oil works great and is cheaper by the quart!
