So has anyone run 4ws with front and rear independent controlls? Left stick rear steering rt stick front. That way i dont have to use rear steering when going fast. Input?
if going fast and you use 4ws, you'll most likely spin out on pavement, and nearly flip in grass, on the race track since its usually loose dirt im sure that would greatly increase your turning speed and steering radius, go to fast though and you'll just slide, thats just what would happen if you did use it.
otherwise it would be the same as 2ws, when not using it. Would be good for more manueverability, but i honestly dont see a need for it

I agree with trw, its way to much steering for most surfaces youll just spin out and loose control no matter how hard u practice lol, but like trw said it might be good for loose surfaces, but then again why do all that just for 1 surface. Wats wrong with ur 2ws right now?, if u want more steering u could get a high tourque servo that would make a big diff.

I have an old airplane controller, and I've always wanted to try 4ws on independant channels. Seems like it would be great for rock crawling.
I've heard a lot about spinning out, but I think like you said, you could use the rear wheels at your discretion if they're on a seperate channel. Plus, you might be able to pull full 360's without loosing forward momemtum, which would be pretty slick.

Im playing in a skate park with swimming pool type ramps and stuff. If I go vertical I want to be able to 180 above the coping so I face down when I come back in, otherwise I come back down going backwards and flipping over. I have huge tires that have a gyroscopic affect in the air, I was hoping two more tires would help flipping it around. Im a basher not a racer and my truck is put through everything i can find so versatility and agility are perks.

What servo would be a good replacement? Its a 10kg servo now and needs more.

10 kg? Uhhh usually they're rated in ounce inches. I guess you could do a newton meter rating, but in the US we typically stick with our own funny measurements.
Standard servos are like 30-40oz, and a good cheap replacement is the Hitec 645, which has around 130 oz I believe. I use one in my buggy.
Far as the skate ramp, I'd think turning in the air would be all about the ramp approach. 4 wheel steering might help, as you'd want the truck to be just starting to spin out as it came off the top, that way it could keep spinning in the air. Just turning the wheels once in the air will produce a roll effect, not yaw, like your looking for.

You are absolutely right. I think I need better than 130 oz though, damn conversions, I have to check.
