zueslilbuddy
08-22-2007, 04:40 PM
Well still gonna have to do one more big tear down when I get my aluminum diff housings and collors then should only have to tear it down when i feel like it lol

I buy most of my parts used or new second hand so i get what i can and what i like the looks of.
Its pretty much going to end up being a Super Maxx from different companys.
Wish i could find a cheap set of aluminum a-arms that match my front ones Blue uppers Silver lowers and an aluminum tranny case.
Also I'm looking into a machine shop that can make me aluminum slip shafts insteed of the cvd's. I dont like the look of the cvd's i like fat shafts, they look more real i guess.
Then a 3.3 is in its future.

Ced Rc that looks niiiice I'm an aluminum adict and that is eye candy to me.
I just hope you never hit anything with it cause with those aluminum bumper mounts its gonna total loads of parts.

But for a shelf queen top notch work.

thanks zueslilbuddy, probably 99% aluminum, check out the website I help my friend run for cheap parts and fast shipping, RCSLOT.com, we carry most of the top notch brands, and we have some of the lowest prices you will find anywhere, this T-Maxx is pretty much a shelf queen, plastic is for bashing, aluminum is for looks with me.

Ced Rc- The photoshop made a huge difference, nice job!

Thanks! I'm still learning how to use photoshop, I first used it due to difficulties taking pictures of chrome, flashes often make chrome look bad, or highly polished aluminum surfaces too.

UE Thunder chassis
UE Racer-X suspension
UE servo saver
UE Steel CVDs
UE Ti center driveshafts
FOC (don't remember the brand; 6+ years old)
STS D30M with roto-start
STS big block pipe
KO FET steering servo
Strobe slipper (modded to take a 49T Serpent spur)
HPI 18t clutchbell
Integy power clutch
Kyosho Inferno shocks with stiff springs

How hard was it airbrushing the body? Was it easier than spray cans?

Well it took more coats to get the desired solidness of the color but over all I'd have to say it was easier.
Between coat time was way reduced since using water based paint, a hair dryer to dry between coats.
No sags at all which i usually have to fight when using spray can paint (especially in the roof area).
Way more control being able to adjust the paint flow made it the easiest paint job I've done in years.
Over all I dont think I'll be doing much spray can painting anymore.
:D

zueslilbuddy
10-06-2007, 08:21 PM
put airbuush in search on ebay they are cheap if you want what i ended up with, good for paint job like i did not fine lines.
they run like $8.99 plus shipping.
And yes the color is way better the flake looks great with no sag at all.

Only thing is many paints need to be thined I'm just learning not a pro by no means.

Just make it easier to maintain; every time I rebuild or clean up the shocks, will only do it four times instead of eight times :p Am I lazy? How you think?

seanmanibog
10-11-2007, 04:54 PM
No, not lazy, I just think it will made your suspesion more vulnerable to breaking. Believe it or not, the shocks do play a part in supporting the chassis parts such as the suspension arms (now that there's no shock there, that part will most likely have more flex) and your putting alot more weight on one side of the shock tower. This is just my personal opion though.

lol 5'6" 155, a few years of Aikido, Mixed martial arts, and Karate, and my Father who is a black belt of various levels of MANY martial arts.
lol you would still probably kick my butt!

If you guys want to learn some nasty close quarters hand to hand get into some isshinryu ;) I took a "self defense" class for a single credit that I needed for a fill class, and was told by the instructor (a 4th degree black belt of Taekwondo) to "stay away from his students". There was one though (2nd degree BB) that was willing to play around a little with me, he wanted to learn a few things. We all had a lot of fun until the instructor wanted me to try their moves. Honestly I don't know why I couldn't get the hang of them as they were very easy, I guess I am just to use to taking the shortest route with lethal force? LOL Needless to say their claws and holds weren't working so I eventually reverted back to my style, opps.

I have known a few people with judo, ju jistu, and akido backgrounds and will admit they all are great ways of self defense, discipline and overall conditioning. I just hope that one day soon my back will be well enough to get back into some of thee forms and maybe pick up another kata or two. As far as actually using any of this, I have been very lucky in that respect. it is amazing what kind of respect you can gain by a few quick blocks and taps in the very beginning to "let someone know". Esp when you are in a new place and have to "prove yourself". Ya just rambling now.

back to the topic and POST PICS OF YOUR TRUCKS

Exhaust is really great! The CF keeps it cool so you don't burn yourself, and its about 3 times lighter than my original pipe. Also increased the mid-range and I lost nothing from low end.

Akasha, Thanks! It is a screamer on the track.

sean- Just put the Losi tires on the Savage and ran it a little this weekend. They look sweet on the big truck and sound even better boggin' down the road. The SH .28 in my Savage can handle them better than my Shock too.

Thanks for the compliments.

Looking for lower profile tires for rear but kind of need to stick with the maxx type rear rims as others will either hit the a-arms or make it funny wide in the rear.

Well with the stock maxx tires the chassis is almost level so I gotta see how it goes before i make any changes.
Went with .15 maxx rear a-arms to narrow it so it wouldnt look to stipid.
I think its gonna haul wheelies like crazy and be really fun to drive.

hey JSSuper what have you done to that truck? and how do you like it? i forgot to add the stealthy paint. looks nice i would like to get one so waht are your thoughts?

You know I have actually done very little to it. Its still very "stockish". I came to own this after helping my friend break his in... Light, nimble, pretty fast, "truggy style" setup. All are things I liked!

We were running my MGT and his GT10 in about 3-4" of snow shortly after breaking his in. Mine dug clear to the grass and needed lots of engine RPM to keep moving. The GT10 only sunk in about 1/2 - 3/4" and literally ran rings around me. It was so easy to catch air with too. I was pretty impressed with it so I snagged me one.

Mods: Tire/wheel packages and gearing options to suit the tires, Body, Torque tuned Associated pipe, Dual stage filter, softer spings and shock oil, radio change and upgraded servos (sealed), IB1400 receiver pack in sealed radio box with external plug jack. Oh well and the required braided fuel line for "bling" :D

Here is my thoughts after a couple gallons:
I'll use a comparison truck that is similar so that it will give you some ideas for you to think on if you are going to buy one.

HB GT10 vs HPI MT2 G3.0:

Both are 4wd "truggy styled drivetrain" Gear diffs, full bearings, G3.0 with rotostart. They also have the same radio gear.

GT10
+ Larger wider wheel package 14mm hex
+ Ultra rigid chassis 7075 3mm (MT2 = 6061 2.5mm)
+ Price $280 (Compared to $320 for the MT2)

HPI MT2 G3.0
+ Beefy suspension design and geometry (beefier arms and shock towers, more upright single shock design is easier to setup and I think it works better)
+ Parts support
+ 2 stage air filter

Ultimately I picked the GT10, though the shock towers are the weakest part, I have never broken one. I did coat the front one (the one everyone seems to break) with Shoo Goo to re-inforce it.

The one thing I have never been really happy with is the "bottom end" or accelleration out of the hole. From a roll and especially once you hit the powerband this truck flies. From a dig it sucks for 5-8 ft.

One of the reasons that I went to the "torque" pipe. It moved the power down range a little and it helps, but it didn't solve the problem.

I feel the issue is in the clutch, I'm currently testing a few different clutches to see wich one works the best. I'm getting close to having the SNAP that I want... I'll keep you posted and if you want more info, feel free to pm me

Actually, in my case, they were an improvement over the wheels and tires that came with the truck. The original tires had very little tread and very soft side walls, these are much better for dirt. I think these were the stock wheels and tires sometime in the past, but they are not what came in my box.

Super-DutyXR + 14x 35A cells + dual-970 motors = plenty fast (for me, at least)

Gonna do some wire management here shortly, followed by shoe-goo'ing the batts.

GTX & sean,

Thanks. She runs amazing, really. Turns on 3 wheels, and always wanting to lift the front end, even with the conservative suspension setup I have on it. :) After running the 14-cells for approx. 10 min., the motors barely get luke-warm. Not even enough to evaporate the mist on them. hehe Gonna leave these motors on here for now, and keep the HV-Maxx BL setup in my EMaxx for right now. May change.....may not. heh :p

yuck, a full strip & clean after every run. To much time. I drop mine a couple times to knock the big clods off and call it good. In the case of my new emaxx, I might hit it with a hose after I run it since its waterproof.

Here is my race Revo. Although it doesn't look like much it is highly modified with everything from aluminum ball ends to titanium brake disk. Installed but not pictured is a Polished tuned pipe. Overall weight is next to nothing :)
