Thats a sweet paint job Savagepicco26! Did you paint those red & white lines or are they lectra line?
thanks. they're painted. they were a serious PITA, but i wanted everything painted so it would be more durable. many, many hand cramps while cutting all the masking for that job!

I'm not sure but are those trucks the MGT, Savage, T-maxx, and LST? if so you sure have a great fleet.... but i notice a titan box in the background and i'm curious why there aren't pics of that.

How do you compare all of your trucks....have you decided what's best in each respect? I'd like to hear from someone who has what seems to be every big boy out there.

Also, I just bought the exact wheel/tire combo thats on your MGT, white RPM stablemaxx with proline mulchers, and haven't had a chance to use them. How durable are they? Maybe a better question would be, how long do the proline mulchers last, you seem to have used them enough to know...

I just thought i'd get an idea before i run them so i can avoid experimenting and ripping them up. :D

GTX -- looks like it's about time for a new body....

either that or some shoe goo and spraypaint!! (that's what i did to mine....hehe)

but you say you sold it? oh well. How much did you get for it?

filled in like 6 cracks with that goop and painted the top of the body with special flexible spraypaint made for plastic.... worked pretty well for all the rolls and scrapes from pavement since then. And I just busted the front bulkhead in a fight with a volleyball post so i have time to post a few jumping pics....lol

I apologise in advance for the poor picture quality. :(

I still have the stock steering servo, and it's a bit harder to keep straight than i'd like, but that could be because i had it pegged.... anyway, in this one I almost took out my camera dude....lol!! :D :p

i take them at full size (about 2MB), then use software to scale them down. there's lots of free resizers out on the net. just google them and download one of them.

just open the pic with MS paint and go to IMAGE then click on STRETCH/SKEW.
You can SKEW the image down by putting a smaller % of the picture. I usually do it about 60% and they fit fine.

lol are your tires on inside out?

HAha!! good eye...yes, they are. I was thinking, "How can i give this more defense against rollin' over without spanding money"....

I have brand new rpm rims waiting so at the time i figured...what the heck.... why not!

and well...they work great, have one of the farthest offsets you can FIND for t-maxx without getting some expensive rim or a hub lengthener....

But yeah, i died those, then dremeled out the hex shape in the center of the outer side of the rim, slipped the tires....and saved like 100 bux from buying spiked tires and offset rims... even though i have a set...lol! :p :p :D

lol they are haha thats so funny

I also find it amusing, but i'm curious, why does it make you laugh? :o

I sold my 1:1 vehicle, not the Revo Nice pics man!

Hey thanks, my best friend was over, and one time he ran it into a curb and broke it up a bit so he didn't want to drive, so i grabbed a camera and asked him if he'd take some pics.

Amazingly he was willing and wanted to sit like...BETWEEN the jumps and take the pics with it over his head. I told him not to because it's kinda risky, but mostly because our older digicam just doesn't have a shutter that will capture that kind of speed. and like i said, that stock steering servo has some nutty slop because of the low torque, it just can't keep it straight like i wish it would.

So seeing that i just broke her again because i was driving at a school paved playground area and didn't survey well enough to avoid hitting a post, i'll be buying some pretty alluminum and a new servo if i feel like spending more cash. D'OH!!! :p :p :p

Figit090

DUDE!!! the ultimate fix to blind jumping! if you could make a big one of those, it would be awsome...because i think if you're standing near where the truck is intended to land, you can't see it once it's almost on and going up the jump, so exact throttle release and steering correction becomes a bit tough if the jump is really large....this would totally fix that!!!

Figit090

The Brat is SWEET, is it one of the "first" Models that came with the Driver figure?

Thanks. I rebuilt it from a bunch of spare parts from eBay this past winter. The only new part is the body.
It does have a driver figure, but since it was the 38th car in Tamiya's lineup, I doubt it was the first. I never think they look that good, that's why the Brat and the WW have empty seats.

I'm still breaking it (6 tanks) so I can't give you an honest answer. If you are wanting a racer I would get it. I was wanting a Jato to mess with but when I saw this for $289 I just couldn't pass that up. I like my Savage because I've got it all hopped up and it looks and sounds tough. So far my Savage looks like its quicker and faster BUT I can tell already that the TNX will handle MUCH better.
You just can't beat an 1/8 scale MT to have fun with, that is light and tough for $289!!!

losiracer, what kind of battery is that in the front, thats a such a good idea

Quinton
08-14-2005, 11:08 AM
Its a 5 cell flat pack. You could use that or a 5 cell hump pack. That would help alot with weight if you are a racer

savagepicco26
08-14-2005, 11:45 AM
losi, also, why do you run the shocks without springs upside down?

thedarkness
08-14-2005, 12:12 PM
The local savage racers do it because the savages suspension is so stiff out of the box

Quinton
08-14-2005, 12:40 PM
I don't know the point of mounting them upside down. They will be more likely to get dirt in them.

thedarkness
08-14-2005, 01:10 PM
most than likely it has to do with all the air being in the top of the shock while the piston is always right at the bottom.

Figit090
08-14-2005, 02:12 PM
that's cool. The battery pack placement is a good idea but i think i would have tried mounting it under the center of the chassis where it isn't near the most common point of impact in wrecks... but i dunno. just a thought. I guess if you don't run into stuff like i do it's allright....lol. i suppose you'd have to hit pretty bad to really do anything to it, but still.....

thanks guys, well i race onroad :( i wish we had a offroad track around here. and i use the 4 shocks as dampeners and 4 shocks are for rebound and the upside down ones help lower the center gravity. yeah im soon going to get the hump pack. i dont have to worry about damaging the pack cuz i dont go offroad racing like i said i race onroad. by the end of the season im going to have lcg chassis plates, buggy shocks towers and buggy shocks. hopefully its going to work out.

-30 probley not a good idea +30 better atleast on a nitro too cold and the engine won't run & if it dose it won't run come summer. due to piston to sleeve wear if the engine is not able to reach oppreating temp ( 180 - 230 ) the piston will wear the sleeve quicker then it would otherwise. Some of us keep two engines one for warm weather and one for cold. If you do try to run your nitro in -30 use a heat gun or a hair dryer to perheat the engine befor you start it about 30 min. befor this will minimize the wear from the cold weather. If your engine dosen't turn don't forse it bad things can happen.

If you run it in that cold of temp. tune the engine alittle lener so it will run hotter buy a temp guage and monter your head temps keep it warm room temp is a good starting point if the room is about ( 60-75 ). breake your engine in real good now and run it cand of hard too this will help in the cold

Fresh of a rebuild and some new parts.. My basher is back and better than ever... About two years ago I made my first set of frames.. They were the 1.5" extendeds.. I went through a couple of design changes but still feel these are the best overall chassis I have made.. These frames are over a year old.. been through hell and back and still look good. This is by far my favorite truck to bash on...

- NovaRossi 528XRP
- 4mm 7075 1.5" extended TVPs
- All aluminum parts were de-anodized and then electropolished
- Electropolished LST shocks with threaded bodies held on with 4mm 7075 brackets
- X-75 beadlocks with rock ring
- 3 speed tranny
- lunsford titainum tie rods
- nova engine mount and one peice engine plate
- 430 oz hitec servo (steering)
- LST tires with MGT foams
- Alloy gearboxes with alloy cups 300k front and 100k rear
- Half-back cage

The Half-back cage is made of solid delrin rod. hand formed and 100% indestructable. It is light wieght and can be removed in 2 seconds. It is unlike anything on the market but I will take credit for the future of RC cages as I know that big manufactures are already working on a production style "half-back" cage.. At least I made the first cage that can truley have 100% lifetime warrenty....

Thanks for the kind words about my rig.. I have had the savage since it came out and have been working on its durability for almost 2 years.. I belive I have eliminated the weak links and would put it against anything...

The savage holds up very well. The main part that gives is the dog bones. Nearly every tank is at least one bone.. Next is shock shafts.. Truely the stock plastic shocks can take a mean beating.. but the aluminum shocks dont last one jump.. Plastic flexes and gives where a stiff metal part does not have any give, resulting in bent parts.. Hence the use of plastic on my cages.. I have built numerous metal cages only to have them bend.. where as the plastic cages give and bounce right back..

Here is a pick of a few tanks on the super ramp with the HPI aluminum shocks.. not so good..

we have 5 traxxas trucks and 2 team losi's, and i like the traxxas' better. never broke a part on any but my e-maxx...Two different breeds. Losi's are purely made for racing -- Hence they're more brittle because of the way their designed. But any Losi [except the lst] would smoke the pants off any Traxxas in the same class for racing.

Actually I did add up what I have into it.. Although I did make the TVPs, brackets, and cage there is still around $1500 in parts.. The engine alone was $350+.. but thats the cost of (what I consider) the highest quality parts on the market..

you can get about the same perfomance for quite a bit less if your a smart shopper..

wow, its nice. the only thing i would change is the a arms (just a precaution) and the upper deck to graphite. other than that its totally sweet!! what threaded shocks ar those btw?

Shocks are from GPM racing. The A arms are the stock 18SS arms with purple RPM ball connectors. I considered changing them for the New Era A arms but I fear the connectors would be too big as the Shock springs are a little bit oversized and would just get stuck to the arms while the car is running. Right now, with the stock arms, I got like 2 millimeters clearance and that too close for comfort for me. The graphite upper deck is not on my list, I don't like the fact that all of the electronics would be naked and a pray to dust and mud.

I admit, it is sweet and mind you, it is one speedy truck. I had two policemen stop by the park where I was running it this afternoon. I politely asked them if they would mind using their radar to evaluate the speed and it hit 42-43mph on grass. The two guys just couldn't beleive it. If I had more guts, I would have asked if they would do the same test in the street, I'm sure it would have hit 48-50mph but they probably would have given me a speeding ticket... ;)

lol, i dont doubt mine would hit 50 with a good set of tires (my mashers are not good for the road..at all) it has a OS .18 cvrx. my mt2 rtr which i recently realized i could build again (needs, engine (have it) electronics (stole it from anothr rc i have) exhaust (have it but it sucks (stock)), a hinge pin set (buying it soon i hope) and onroad tires (also buying them soon i hope)) and im putting a left over 2 speed in it. oh, it needs a new front diff and a couple outdrive cups too. i cant wait to get it running :D (i have 2 mt2's btw)

oh, if it has the stock a arms on it..why are those so shiny? ;) just had me confused a bit there. very nice mt2 so far though. i like it.

Any repair on any r/c has the potencial to be come a pain in the *^#@! if you know what you doing or you are a first timer even the " easy jobs" can turn on you so to say on truck is easier to work on then another is really unfair becuse you think changing a spur in a t-maxx is hard and someone else thinks its hard in a savage ,tnx &,lost the list could go on on & on. Someone who has the skill to fab there own parts is probley not going to have a problem with any truck on the market.

That Hellfire looks like it will give all the trucks, truggies and buggies a run for their money.

Tri-Turbo - You picked a good nitro to start out with. The TNX is good solid durable and fast race truck. It really doesn't need any mods at all either. I think I'm going to convert mine over to pullstart or rotostart so I don't have to use 3 different starting methods for my nitro's though.
