already in the works. started with the SUT and LSP. this taken from the RC Pro Series site:
RC Pro Announcement
RC Pro Series Announces New Class Definitions ---RC Pro Series is pleased to announce that starting in the 2006 Off-Road season, the classes currently known as Standard Monster Truck and Unlimited Monster Truck will be changing. The new classes will be Monster Truck and 1/8 Arena Truck. Along with the name change, these two classes will be completely separated. Monster Trucks currently able to "run up" in the Unlimited class will no longer have that option. With the release of the Storm Unlimited Truck and the HotBodies Lightning Stadium Pro along with the highly anticipated release of Arena Trucks from Thunder Tiger, Jammin and Mugen, the need for a completely separate class is more important than ever. Converted 1/8 scale buggies, commonly known as "Truggies" will now be known as Arena Trucks as well. There are characteristics inherent to these Arena Trucks that make their relationship to Monster Trucks more different than similar. A series of updated rules for the Arena Truck class will be available soon on this site.

yep. i've been waiting for them to make a rule change since spring of 04 when i started racing. all i do pretty much is race. it's rare that i'll take the savage or the revo out for a bash session. nowhere near as fun as screaming around the track. once you start racing, that's all you want to do. i made a kicker ramp the other day for the trucks. did some jumps, did some flips and i was bored with it in 10 minutes and headed to the track! LOL :D

Yea theres nothing like compation and running the track even by your self it just a different type of fun. I think it is more of a chalenage to keep it on the track hit the jumps right take the corners and find the fastest line around the track and do it every time more people should go to there local track and just bash at the track have some friendly races youll be hooked.

yep. i talked about that here: http://forums.radiocontrolzone.com/showthread.php?t=204327 just bashing/racing around with another guy. laid back, and fun as hell. wrecking eachother and laughing about it. it's great.
I am going to go to a track for the first time as up till now the only thing I do is bash in the last 5 years. I just fond a tack somewhat near me 50 miles away and plain on going up there some but with the price of gas we will have to wait and see how often I can go. They have an endurance race this weekend that pays $800 first prize. I am not going to run in that I am going for the beginners class if I get a chance to get up there and practice this week. I am really going to enjoy meeting others in the hobby in persona

The roll bar is made from 10mm V2A steel pipe - not lightwight but unbeatable by the truck ;)

the panoramic pic that's on their homepage was taken by Beau Long. He takes pics at a lot of the tracks here in NC and SC also. go here and then click on the pictures link http://www.carolinasrc.com/forum/ that's a good portion of some of the tracks in the carolinas. The Farm II is the biggest with a 1250ft centerline and 15ft minimum lane width. one of the best tracks in the country. Drake, Saxton, Halsey, Moore, and many others were here last weekend for the 3rd Annual Summer Nitro Fest. a good number of the factory drivers come here. it's like The Dirt of the East coast. RC Pro Series races are held there too.

I am just happy I have a place to go run now. After 5 years of bashing by myself I was getting board. Wow how many tracks do you have up that way???????? Will have to try and make it up your way one day if the price of gas ever comes down. Do you ever get to Georgia?

i've been to atlanta a couple times, but not for RC's. i live just north of charlotte, NC and within 45 minutes of my house, i have 5 awesome tracks. the charlotte area is huge with RC racing. here's the tracks that are listed: http://www.carolinasrc.com/trackdirectory/ Atomic racers would probably be the closest to GA for you depending where you live in GA.

Yes I meant the chrome hood scoops you've got taped on there. Did you make them functional by cuting holes in the hood to suck the air in?
I've got them on a few of my truck bodies as well.

You can kinda see here that I dremeled out a hole to a functional ram air hood scoop.

only had it about 5 days now. Picked her up used on ebay but the only scratches on the truck ive put on it lol. Wassnt a pro, a RTR that had powerstrokes with the wabash+bowties on. Pro's get the blue cooling head but i think i'll be putting a nova head with a big bore header+MGT pipe. Even at the very rich settings im running right now(truck was supposed to be broken in but im repeating the process just in case) it makes good power. A little sluggish at the start but its from the tune. Its going to be crazy once i get it tuned up.
on my 2nd tank i lunched the right rear universal but i'll be strenghtening the stockers with copper reinforcements to see how they hold up. the powerstrokes have about .400" more travel than the stockers so landings present suspension geometry that it was not designed for. On power landing seem to luch them out quite easily. If that doesnt work i'll just put on the tamiya blue CVD's.
Other than that i cant tell ya much more. I did flub a landing off a smallish just that sent it kartwheeling into a tree with no damage and the plastic parts are superb as you would expect from a tamiya product. I'll try to get some track laps in on it on the 7th

My Truck...
My Truck, an old Traxxas T-maxx. This truck was my first nitro vehical, and has went through many radical changes over the past years. When i first got it i ran in on a construction site in Montauk NY (soon to be a vacation house), and on the beach untill i stripped the spur gear. After it was running again, the transmission reverse failed, and so i replaced the servo, but that just did not help it at all. Then since i did not know much about nitro vehicals, and i was younger than i am now, and took everything for grantit, the truck ended up in pieces, and it was that way until a year ago. I then pieced the truck together, ordering many parts, (more money all together than the truck was worth, but i cant stand a truck for spare parts.) Even some upgrades, and then the i put in a foward only tranny conversion, and i started to run it, it ran for a little, but it was still a piece of junk, so once again, i rebuilt it, and here it is, i still have to run it but so far so good!
Parts on the vehical:
Aluminum skid plates, orig anodized blue, but shaved to silver
Center skid/support plate is custom made by hand, no machines used
replaced many machine screws from lowes (round combo w/nut - zinc 6-32 x 3/8)
New .15pro engine from traxxas (replacement) shaved to the aluminum base plate
MIP rear stinger exhaust pipe with engraved flames
Megatech aluminum steering
Stock plastic
No bumpers
HPI Savage rims
Proline maxx masher tires
Duratrax fail safe
Cen Racing Remote Controll
Stock Steering servo
Futaba Throttal Servo
Stock shocks (other shock bodies are avaiable smaller, and bigger from traxxas bandit)
Stock body trimed and SI.com girls applied to the body
Wing on rear of the body

A series of updated rules for the Arena Truck class will be available soon on this site.

yea thats fixed now...sorta, it does not make much of a diffrence
nice truck
what is the chassis made of?
The brace is made of aluminum sheeting aluminum 90 degree bent and some bolts, sealer and some aluminum tape on the bottom for a nice look
and how did you make that chassis brace?
I went to lowes
bout the metal and bolts
Used a dremel to cut off the bolts ends
Carbored Template
Timsnips to cut all of the metal except bolts
and its tighter than ever, its the best chassie brace, and the tranny is not connected to it meaning that it will not ruin the gear mesh every time i hit a bump!
The tranny is held on by the old support but cut down a whole lot
nite the truck is now in finished form, ill try to get some new pics of it sooner or later...

Id trade them straight up for a set of crime fighters unmounted, but if you want them just tell me what you would be willing to spend on them, we can work something out as they are basicly useless on my truck. The rims and tires are setup like mounting them to narrowed wabashes except on the 14mm hex for all us non 23mm guys.

Id agree with savagepicco to a point, they start to get unreliable with the .30s as the slipper cannot handle the torque. but the arms and hubs and such are as bulletproof as plastic can be.I doubt there is another viehcle period(including 1/8th buggies) that could hold up to the "lawn darts" a savage will.
I had a bone stock savage .25ss and i just couldnt break the damned thing.I even put up a vid of pretty much nothing but 10 foot high 30 foot out lawn darts.

Sweet Ride! Did you paint it yourself? If so, great job. I just finished up my new proline chevy silverado body on my jato. I used candy metallic blue up front and bright yellow in the rear. The windows are silver. I ran 2 yellow racing stripes down the front and 1 blue racing stripe down the back. Looks great. Will put these on the web next week. I dont have a digital camera yet so I have to do it the old way with the disposable camera

Yeah, 60+ sounds about right. We'd have to decide how many colors and how complicated the design would be. I'm considering picking up a body this week and doing the Halloween theme for the best paint competition. I have an idea but just need to make the time to paint it.

It's a bit dull but I'm planning on getting a sheet of Tamiya Calsonic Skyline decals and putting on there. I'm running 2x JR Z650M steering servos, an OS 18TM (Integy 3 shoe clutch) and a Trinity pipe. Haven't broken in the engine because I need to get two rubber grommets to mount the fuel tank.

I will try to cover next project on both sides :)
If you have any specific question, I will be happy to answer.
Brushed e-maxxes on 18 cell's used to get in 35-37.5 MPH range.
Brushless e-maxx covered here and there from top to bottom :)
Brushless REVO with HV4400 runs at 38-40MPH, while with Hacker C50 can get 42.5MPH. Sometimes readings cannot be accurate due to tires expansion.
Brushless buggy should cover 44-55MPH, depends on setup.
Dewalt buggy just for fun, maybe 25MPH on 12 Cells and higher at 18.
The same buggy with 2.8:1 inline gear reduction (tranny 36:13*diff 37/13 )and with feigao 8S was fun to run around. But when I replaced this combo with 10XL idler giveup (plastic leftover). So I fixed it back with Dewalt and last plastic idler.
As for performance, I try to keep my motors and ESC's cool, so higher speeds are possible but no need for me.
And about competition, not recently (everyone is busy today, right) but now mostly build to order and for fun.
Artur
P.S. Plan to join local event in November (Ann Arbor, MI)

Like I said. According to page 7 of R/C Dirt, Kyosho is re-releasing both the electric and nitro blizzard.
They are listed on the Kyosho America site under the new release model number. However, the site is still pretty glitchy, so the links aren't working right now.

Ran it for 1st time over the weekend, all i can say is what a beast! & i havent even ran it any where near wot yet as im still running in the engine, The power (compared to nitro) is unbelievable & this is without a tuned pipe which helps ALOT for speed/power on large scale gas/petrol power RC's.
looking forward to finally finishing running-in my engine so i can give it some serious abuse! :)
