You must love working with your MGT, because i own a LST and let me tell you its a peice of crap to work with, especially how u need to take apart every little damn thing to get to one piece. And i hate there tranny. Just wondering, do you find the 4.6 doesn't get good top speed?

This is my first MT. I have been more into cars. When compared to my Cen CT5 which easily does 60 MPH +, yeh, the MGT's top speed isn't great. But when I am out with other MT's, such as Savage, and Revo's, it isn't bad. I still; don't have it completely broken in and tuned, maybe 10-12 tanks so far. It is true though that this truck is amazingly easy to work on.

08-08-2006, 01:23 PM
Thanks... I like the SKPs on the 40 series because they are almost as tall as the stock tires, so the final gearing is similar. The regular 40 series tires force ya to add a tooth or two to the clutchbell to keep the ratio inline.

08-10-2006, 12:55 AM
DarkSavage- Ive ran the yellow/black one a few times on the track and it is awesome. Unlike any other class. I was running against a Hyper 8 and actually passed him on the back straigt and we stayed together throughout the entire track(except when i crashed). Truggies shine in the rough stuff where buggies would bounce around.
I just got the other LSP-R tonight and have yet to run it! Hopefully tomorrow after work. Everyone is sooo into the Jammin and Kyosho truggy that not many people run the LSP. I really like the Jammin but at $600 for the CRT kit....idk. I have $680 into the Yellow/Black LSP-R roller(including the actual kit) and its built like a tank!!!! All the right hop ups and mods done to make it perform. Once i can drive consistantly i have no doubt that i will be just as fast as drivers with the other trucks! Im not bashing the others...i would love a CRT or ST-1. I was never a fan of Hot Bodies but after seeing and using thier truggy I wouldnt hesitate to buy another or try one of there buggies. Its actually a wonderful kit!
balang_479
08-10-2006, 06:04 AM
yeah i love the LSP.. dont have one but if i had to get a truggy i would get one of those. Alu. arms already, super low CG and looks likes its soo stable, shame they dont have a team to race it (or do they??). I know it does race in the nationals and it does do well, but yeah they do seem to ignore it.
Awesome trucks James..

08-10-2006, 09:08 PM
I had an LSP, they were the top truck for a while, but now the Jammin and ST-R have taken those honors away. It is still a good truck though.
The LSP requires alot of hop up or beefier parts not in the kit to stay together well, especially if you use the aluminum arms. I have broken tranny cases, arm mounts, etc. otherwise. The plastic arms aren't as goo din the handling department, but are MORE durable, the opposite of what most think.
I also grew tired of the rear steer it needs to get it to turn, the newer trucks have ALOT more steering.
Now Mugen has a ground up biult 1/8th truck(I have one on the way), it is looking bleak for the old LSP.
Not saying it is no good, just not as good as the latest trucks out, imo.
Still a cool truck though!

Umm do you own a different lst than me? cause i think the lst is super easy to work on...4 screws to get to the diffs. Tranny pops out in about 6 screws i think. dont need to take the whole engine out to get to the spur gear like tmaxx etc. I think its great to work on.
Just my opinion though :)

So how do truggys feel compare to monster trucks.?
Awesome...ive had mt's(revo, tmaxx's, mutant maxx, etc) and on the track a truggy would dominate. With the exception of a pro running a mt(IE Slayden) then it would be a good race but normal club racing would be a different story. I ran against a revo and out gunned him on the straight, out jumped him, out turned him, and i can go on and on!!! There is nothing like driving a truggy....looks awesome and handles like a dream. Hell i out ran a Hyper 8 on a long back straight. His pit guy couldnt believe it. His exact words were, "Holy Crap, look at that thing" :p There is no way im going back to racing buggies after running a truggy!

But one is a monster truck and one is for guys who have a tuff time being competitive in 1/8th buggy.......
Pops Losi told me that the last time he was at a race, LOL.
The 1/8th trucks are fun, but the driving is brutal due to the fact that alot of guys have a hard time letting off the gas because they know the trucks are beefy!

ericem, don't sweat it! Most racers are pretty laid back and feel the same way sometimes. There may be a few with a 6th grade on the playground mentality, but they are few and far between.
I would get to the track early and get as much practice as possible(without hogging the freq clip too much), then you will know the track by the race start. Then at the end of the day stay and practice some more!
Keep in mind during the day to watch what the fast guys are doing and if a couple seem to be having a good time, ask some questions.
The smartest guy at the track is the one who looks around and asks for a little help, without being too invasive. Obviously it isn't good to go up with questions like, "What broke that run?".
Most racers love a chance to brag about thier set up, tires, sponsors, etc.

Pretty much finished up #2 of 5 Tazer trugs rolling out this month for peeps. 3 more ta go ....
Sent all the CNC and even the Jammin Big Bore shock caps out to be stripped and polished - really only ONE picture I got captures the essence of how gorgeous the polish turned out. All the other photos have a funky glare or show miniscule metal grain - that frankly you dont see in real life.
Features DACE Center Braces & KMW's new Jammin CRT Big Bore shock bodies - look absolutely siiick!

i just put a sway bar kit on my savy. the handling is so much better, it's unreal! i wanted to do an LST shock conversion with the innovative-rc kit also, but both won't fit. i tried. the sway bars hit the LST shocks. so now i've got a full setup to do the conversion, but nothing to do with it. it looked mean as hell with everything on it though!

here was my attempt to put the Innovative-RC conversion kit on my savy along with a sway bar kit. as you can see in the pics, the sway bars went through the shock springs and limited travel too much. it would have been a super stiff suspension for racing, but something would have wound up breaking. i wish it would have worked out, because it sure looked sweet! this is the brand new V5 kit from Innovative-RC that remounts the tie rods in front of the gearbox so the shocks can go on the back of the suspension arms. i gotta say, the Innovative-RC parts are top notch! best i've seen!

Get any binding with those swaybars going through the shock coils?
yeah, that was more or less stated in the post with the pics. i wound up taking off the LST setup and leaving the sway bars. i did this with the intention of racing my savage (which i've done in the past very sucessufully) the sway bars greatly improve cornering. plus, the LST shocks add about 450 grams and the conversion kit is another 150grams. so some pretty substantial weight added. the LST shocks just look so sweet on the savage though, so i may put them back on, ditch the sway bars and use my revo for racing and the savage purely for bashing.

I dnf'ed the A main :( I think my clutch got too hot from all the weight and melted the spur. (something caused it to strip). it was either that or something came loose on the chassis causing flex.

09-04-2006, 09:11 PM
chukb, sounds about right, if the slipper slipped much at all, when the truck got heavier, it slipped alot more and melted the spur. It happens on the Revo sometimes too, if the slipper is a little too loose.
Problem is, too tight is not much better for the spur, :(.
We have a new Savage X body coming out very soon, btw!!! Looks like yours it torn!

How did you get to the roto start if the wheelie bar was in the way. At least for mine it was in the way so I had to take the wheelie bar off. In order to get the truck to start.
Quinton
09-13-2006, 03:27 PM
I had the wheelie bar for awhile but thought it looked ridiculous so I took it off, but I didn't have a problem with my rotostart reaching.
It even reaches with my FLM LCG Extended TVP's.

Oh and my truck has no problem with wheelies ;)
mugen 1.1's are pretty much equivalent to Ofna gold springs. if your springs are HPI, then i don't know. the mugen 1.1's are very stiff and allow the motor to spin up more before engaging. this is helpfull for the heavy monster trucks. especially if you're running a 5, 7, or higher ported motor. helps out with low end torque. i was running an RB S7 in my MBX5 and the difference between 1.0 and 1.1 springs was HUGE! really brought the motor to life!

YEP! I noticed more torque at takeoff (with my SH .28) and it seemed much faster all the way thru. Doesn't make sense, so the only thing I could think of was that the old shoes and springs were slipping the whole time it was climbing up "on the pipe", while the 1.1 springs and shoes were holding it tight. I don't know, but I do know that they mde a big difference.
