Hey,

Ok I'm new here - just got back from hols...

I got a XX a while ago (cars in the UK are VERY expensive ok...)

and it doesn't run right... I know a bit about RC (I used to have a Schuey Cougar) but I'm nowhere near an expert and I don't get to read RC mags and stuff so don't rip on me for anything I say which sounds stupid http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

The spur is an 86, and when I attach a spur gear and run the car, it is OK for maybe a minute, then say I nail the throttle and the car stops and you get a whining noise... (The pinion has been shot off the motor - so it isn't connected to teh spur any more...)

However hard i try to attach the pinion to the motor (yokomo pro stock 19*1) it still eventually comes off...

Last time I stripped a spur gear too... It only just occured to me that maybe USA and UK stuff is different? I am using the pinions that I used on my cougar and sum1 said that maybe the gears are different pitch...

Anyway - please help me to sort it out - it's killing me not being able to run this car!!! thanks...

I'm not sure if there's a subtle difference in gear profile or pitch, but I would certainly start by using Losi pinions on Losi gears. As for the pinion coming off, you may want to invest in a decent wrench if you don't already have one. It may just be a case of loose grub screw.

Thanks Steve...

Any ideas on what pinion to get...

I'm gunna be buying a Trinity P2K Pro at the same time http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

Not racing yet - just bashing around and getting a better feel for the car.

I was also thinking of getting some titanium turnbuckles because the steering slop is kinda bad. (tho it's my servos fault that thing has been in my cougar which got very bashed up! being my first and all http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif)

Ok...there is a difference between US and UK gears. The UK uses metric pitch gears so its like 48.6pitch or something. Anyway...my friend has a P2K in his rustler and has it gear PERFECTLY with 18/81. With this gearing it goes very fast and still has a lot of torque and run time. Hope this helps.

ok thanks i'll see - Basically I wanna get the thing moving first!

Steve - you said about a wrench? should I just ask about this?

I use a hex alan key to tighten the grub screws at the moment... (and I can't really get much torque on it - it's tiny)
