Ok, I will be driving this car this december when I get my license. So shes not the most beautiful mustang you've seen but its just my car until my '67 is done :D It has a 4 cylinder now but hopefully a 289 we have by the end of summer. Right now I need a set of wheels. What would look good on this little thing?? I'm thinking some keystone Classics but I don't know. I needs some advise from you guys. ;) Since this pic. I painted the grill black again and now I am painting all the interior black. Just need some black seats and carpet now. :D

very good thread.

Here's my '00 Golf IV. Its my second & have plans on keeping one in the family from now on. :) Just wish we'd we'd have gotten the turbo diesel & a four door would've been nice too but the price was just too good. :o

.
Bug, my sister-in law has an '85 Bug. She thinks its worth a mint but has trouble passing inspection every other year.

Gees scorp. You have way too much money. LOL

LOL not really, the blue book value of my car is only like $3865 or something like that (it was my moms car), (in three years it will be a classic) and my dads boat isn't all that much money either. We bought it trashed for very very cheap, and fixed it up, now we are selling it in hopes to pick up a 9metor boat with 540s :D

anyway ejp what year is you car?? im guessing a 1979 or 80 right????I like it alot. is it the turbo? are you gonna keep it when your 67 is done??? (I think you should)
more info!!!

Hey DD, love to see them VW's!! Cool, an '85 bug? Is it Brazilian or Mexican? Those are 'Fuscas'. Tell her to scrap the injection for a solex 34 & she'll pass every inspection from here on. My picture is kinda the 'before' picture too ejp. I was hoping to have it out this week but between the humidity & temp not working in my favor, it's taking a little longer, so no 'after' pics yet. I have since replaced all fenders, the interior (seats, dash & carpet), running boards, mirror, the list goes on.... Totally refurbished. Heck I even got a new license plate. I hate vanity plates but I had to get 'MY73VW' - it seems everyone always asks 'so, what year is that?'.

ejp
06-05-2005, 02:09 PM
Its is an '81. :D No, it does not have the turbo:( If it did I would probaly not put the v-8 in it because the turbos are pretty rare.:D Yes, I plan to keep it for as long as I can because its a mustang:D I personally really like the scoop. Its sweet looking when your sitting behind the wheel.:D I need a set of wheels though, How about these???

sweet rims E.

Thanks for the words BF. This is what the new one replaced. I truely regret selling it. To think it only had 70k & was a '91. They call it the "Strawberry Basket" around these parts.

Sis-inlaws ride is made in Mexico. Lets just say it doesn't like the winter/salty roads any more. :(

The problem I'm having is finding some 4 hole wheels that are a little old school.:D I might just have to convert it to 5 hole.:( Any ideas on wheels???

scorpien boats
06-05-2005, 10:01 PM
They make alot of 4 lug wheels, you just have to look harder lol
mine are 4 lug

ejp
06-05-2005, 10:14 PM
Yeah, but their all wheels like yours. I don't think a set of wheels like that would look good on my car:D

scorpien boats
06-05-2005, 10:20 PM

I like the first one you posted a pic of,

...no pictures, but I did drive a GMC Sonoma till someone ran a red light in April. Having been home from the hospital for a few weeks, I've finally replaced it with another 'small' truck, a Nissan. Expecting a settlement from the other guy's insurance shortly, won't have to worry about car payments then (I hope!). Had the prettiest set of red, purple, blue, maroon, and green bruises I've ever seen! Ain't telling you where... and NO, you can't see them!

My father had some tight cars, he had a roadrunner with a hemi, a Lotus europa, a nova, also raced indy cars, and a 69 corvette, and drag raced a GTX 440ci. Wish he still had that! that thing woudl be worth big bucks now!!! #W$%#$%

I miss my old iron. I had 3 Impala's, '63, '64 and '65, a '74 'Cuda with a 360, a street-legal dune buggy with a built 1835cc engine, Berrien 902 tube frame chassis (Bugfanatic knows what I'm talking about) and a few other rides in my time. A Firebird that was about the worst car that I ever owned, my ex got that one. That was worse than the 'Cuda in the snow.

LOL Well thats nice of you to give your EX a car ... hahahahahaha lol and a cuda in the snow hahahahaha. My dads dad (my grampa) back when he had his gtx, lol his father took it without my dads permission up to mount hood to go skiing. He had chains on the rear wheels and they tore up his fenders because the moron didnt put them on tight enouph and they would smack against them lol. 1835 cc.... Barrien Chassis.... You bet I know!! Did you have dual 44's or 48's on that or a progressive? For you non-VW folks, the dual carbs would sit over each head so they breathed straight down into the head. Pretty cool. A progressive carb is a large 2-bbl carb that sits in the center like a 4-bbl carb does on a V8.

Ron Olson
06-15-2005, 12:09 AM
No, just dual Solexes on it. I had a mild cam put in it and heavy duty oil pump, clutch, pressure plate and throw-out bearing installed and a new mechanical distributor while Ron had it.
I wish that I could scan some pix of it and post them, I have some shots of my wife getting some serious air with it at Silver Lake.

I love your cars. There isn´t too many cool american cars here in Finland. I like their raw power. I myself drive a Renault Clio Sport. (Nobody probably knows this car).2 liter engine with 172bhp. It has had a bit of a tuning and it has been measured to have a bit over 200bhp at the moment. I bet it doesn´t sound too much to you guys, but the car is just over a 1000kg. I´ll post some pics when I get my computer back.(Had a power cut off and the harddrive broke. Didn´t have too much backups :( )

not the original 302, but yes, it's still a 5.0. I want to take the mild 5.0l that is in the 83, and put it in my 66 for a cruiser. Then drop in a fresh 331 in the 83.

This damn RC hobby I stumbled upon is slowing that plan down! :)

Thanks for the kind words, my cars do still hold the priority in my hobby list......

MinGrey02Stg2

There are no cosmetic mods done to it or suspension or tires. I have a Mac straight shot cold air kit, a 2.8 pulley on the supercharger, accufab throttle body, a custom tune done, a bassani x-pipe, magnaflow exhaust, and an MGW shifter.

It certainly can't put it all down in first or second... you have to give it just the right amount of throttle or they'll just spin.

bugfanatic
09-08-2005, 08:45 PM
Well, in Michigan it'd be more like a wake board. I don't use the rack though, I just thought it would look cool. That's actually an original one, not a repop - very rare indeed. And for $50 to boot! I was shakin' when I reached for my wallet. A local VW speed shop had it up against a wall. I asked him if he knew what they were worth & he said to hurry before he changed his mind.

Chris LaPanse
09-09-2005, 01:23 AM
That's awesome! $50? Was he out of his mind?

Side note - somehow, to me, "Volkswagen" and "Speed Shop" don't go together, especially an old beetle. Still, they weren't built for speed. Great looking bug there, bugfanatic.

bugfanatic
09-09-2005, 09:51 PM
Thank you very much Chris! I'm very pleased with how it turned out. I gambled with the rims & 2-tone but I really like it. Well, I've known him for 20 years so I think $50 was a favor - a real big favor. You'd be surprised how fast you can get a bug to go. Tune in to Monster Garage later this month & they'll be building a 9-second 1/4 mile Beetle. That's with a turbo added on to a modded VW engine, but you'd be surprised just how fast a bug can be with a regular carbed big-bore & cammed motor that still fits under the rear decklid. Remember, these things only weigh 1800 lbs. As for my VW, I stuck with the stock 1600 60 horse motor. Just think, on a good day I can probably put a little more than 40 horses to the pavement! One day I may put a big motor back there. But for now, this is what I got.

My piece of crap, a `94 Ranger with my trailer attached for hauling everything to long-distance races.
I tried to post a shot of my other ride but it was too large.

A '02 Ford Ranger Super Cab (short bed, 2 door). I like it, $18,000 brand new and it gets about 26 on the highway. Plus it's super clean, in great shape and has less than 38,000!

I just scrolled thru the previous posts and pictures of cars. There are some nice cars out there. I thought I would add a pic of my 05' GT
I had the dealer deliver it to my shop and I stripped it down and redid it right away (had 6 miles on the odometer) Shaved the door handles, lowered it, rims/tires, added side scoops, repainted it, and few minor details. It's also my daily driver

Paint-Boy,
The Stang is sickkkk  I'm not very fond of the newer mustangs but that one is definilty a 'one off' and your work did nothing but compliment it.

Dhaxt,
Thats the Cadilac of two wheelers right there. What others do you have? My wife has been hounding me for a few years about either a BMW K1200GT or R1200RT. Then again, I like the FJR1300 but thats me.. :p Either one is a lot of bike and I'm not in the mood for such a large ride. Been eyeing the KTM Supermoto real hard for some back road twisties.

I thought I would post another ride (and project) of mine. Anyone that has been following my scarab build thread knows that I own a hot rod / custom car shop. So naturally I have my own project (that never gets worked on) customers come first.

It's a 1955 Chevy Nomad (not stock!haha) major things done to it so far: Custom built chassis with full air ride (for the low stance) floor has been removed from car, so I could raise the floor up (to help lower the car more) the roof has been chopped 4", changed the original style quarter panel wheel openings to the '55 car style (nomad's had a complete round wheel arch opening) the door handles are shaved, and will open "suicide style" (open from the front) I could list more things...but I won't.

Too bad like I mentioned....this project gets neglected and sits all lonely waiting for me to work on it!haha

Here are a couple pics of it. (The first is what I started with)

G'day Paint_Boy

My rides are the small ones - the real ones belong to my Brother, Steve.
Just won the photo competition for the English TV Show "Top Gear"
a Ford Falcon (Fairmont, actually) 1973 XB Coupe

"It's the Duck's nuts! 600 HP at the wheels!"
(I'm not kidding - this car scares me!!!) :D

the dash has been signed by everyone from the cast of the first movie, except for Mel and Steve Bisley (The Goose)

Heh, here's mah 1985 F150. IT's old, beat up and worn out, but still runs great.

It's got the following equipment:

300CI inline six
4spd overdrive manual trans
3.05 rear gear(maybe 2.95's!)
8ft box, reg cab
Used to be blue
15X7 black D-hole rims, Nascar style
Faux wood grain dash, faded
Had at one point the 2.1 channel hi-fi audio package!
Dealer-installed AC, which for electrical reasons doesn't work.

It will make 75MPH at about 1700RPM, and rarely goes over 2200 unless I decide it's time to clean 'er out. That's got to have contributed to A: Original clutch still present and functional, B: engine still runs smooth as silk after 210,000 miles.

VVV Crappy night shot of the beast. :P Not bad for what a measly 550 bucks(TTL included!) can get ya...

I got this truck after my '95 Nissan 200SX met the ass end of some ******* city worker. :\ That was a nice car, but the clutch was dying in it. Also, pathetically slow. Truck was faster straight line. NEver could get it to slide in a turn, tho. Car was stubburn, after the wreck it would still drive fine. Had a minor overheating issue post-wreck, tho...

Nice Ron. What engine etc?

Yesterday was our car shopping day. Needed something more practical since we're a family with five year old & a dog. After months of research, stopping by dealerships after hours & tire kicking, we knew what we wanted as long as it drove good. So indeed, we bought a new '08 Mazda5 w/ 2 liter turbo diesel as well. Loaded w/ less than a thousand miles. Should be picking it up next weekend after all the financial stuff is done.

It's a 3.0 V-6 in there and FWD, not 4WD, kind of weird as I expected it to be RWD or 4WD. It's the same as the Ford Escape. It sure gets a lot better mileage than what my GMC Jimmy did and not the problems that went with it. That thing was depreciating faster than the balance on the loan.

I have been working on this 1955 Chevy Belair with my dad for the last few years. So far we have put a whole new front end on it with rack and pinion power steering, disk brakes, and a front sway bar. And we put in a small block 350 engine and a turbo 350 automatic transmission. I think it has a ford 9" rear end. The body needs a lot of work now that it runs and drives great. It has rust coming through the back side of the sheet metal.
We also have a 1965 buick wildcat convertible that is all original except for the paint and top. And we have a 48 international farm truck that is still a long ways from even moving.
