Ok after reading the phrase "Dogbones are for dogs." in RCCA I'd like to know the difference between all three.
Please don't say "They are just better". I'm looking for something more quantitative.
I understand that dogbones can pop out, and CVD's are rebuildable compared to regular universals.
Just what sort of performance do the CVD's get over the other two. Again some sort of numbers would be helpful.
Finally I think comments like that just further solidify that 'hop-up' mentality.
Any help would be appricated.

It's mostly about which allows greater angles of deflection that makes the "better." Dobgones are very strong, but the fact that they slide in both drive cups can cause more binding than other types. Also, they have to be long enough to prevent ejection, yet short enough to allow as much angle as possible.
CVDs and U-joint shafts are a little better because they are fixed at one end, leaving only one of the driveshaft to slide in and out of the drive cup. They also allow for greater deflection angle without binding, which is ideal for front suspension. I think the CVD allow the greatest deflection angles BTW.
Final benefit of the CVD/Universal shafts - they're lighter - less unsprung weight, less rotating mass.
I didn't say "just because" did I?

Steve, no you didn't. I meant from the other people in on the bbs. I figured that the inner-circle RCCA'ers (aka editors and contributors) would provide me with more valuable information.
Thats cool... I think I'll hold off for now. I'm not as much of a 'mod-freak' as I used to be.

You forgot about Losi sliders. Universals on both ends, very light, spool up quick, and very inexpensive to replace when worn out.

You also forgot well maybe not forgot but anyway the Traxxas cars use slider kinda things how about comparing them to the aformentioned stuff.
