Looks pretty good.
I have not seen one like that before. NO rear sponsons! The transon is sloped under to give rear sponson action???? Have you run this boat yet?
The front/cowl can be anything(homemade to fit ect.) Looks neat though.
Whatever works...........
So have you run it???

Thought you would have picked this one up ole Florida boy! I Believe it is a Mongoose. The sponsons are (mind you that the front right boom has had a hit) The transome is not sloped, the rear deck is though. And those are skis under there just like Andy's new boats, the Eagles.

I think you're right. Now that I think of it before I painted it I could make out the shape of a sticker that said mongoose.
I'm about to run it next week. I picked it up in Florida actually, installed a lift kit on a jeep in trade for it. I haven't run it yet. I got it running in Florida but not well enough to actually run it. It's got a nova rosi engine in it, I'm not real familiar with them. I don't have any out-rigger experience so I'm not sure what to expect with it. I've never used a boat that you have to launch before so I'm a little aprehensive of taking it out. What kind of things should I look out for and how do I launch it anyway?
You're right about the sponsons though. It has those skis under it. I'm excited to see how it goes.

Interesting boat though, kind of a mix of old and new. The sponsons look familiar and the rears are along the lines of Andy's boats but the tub looks kind of retro so I'd place it in the late 80's to early 90's and I'm surely not knowledgable enough about 'riggers to say what it is.
There's nothing wrong with Nova Rossi engines, they're up there with the best of them.
You're in for a fast learning curve with that boat so have some help when you get around to running it the first few times.

I Have never seen that one before, even know I have been around awhile.
I knew it was a older one though, & my best guess was homemade or a experiment from a commercial model.
I would think that the deck curving under like that would cause un-due drag.
Not as proficient as a flat deck with rear sponsons. I am sure it will run well though.
Nova-Rossi is a nice engine for a rigger. As long as it has good compression this should be a quick boat.

Run any type you want, I would say start with min 35% though. Being that engine is a higher performance type, it requires somewhat higher nitro to really perform the way its supposed to. You will have to make adjustments to the needle for your altitude.
To launch, better if you have a friend to do this for you. But if not just give it a nice toss (straight out away from you) as your tossing hit the throttle to rev it up right before it hits the water. And goose it after it hits the water. Thats all there is to it!

Thanks for the info guys. I'll try to find someone with some experience to help me but it looks like I might be on my own with this one. It's kinda hard to find experienced boat modelers here in Utah.

I remember seeing a model in the mid 70's called a gator, probably one of the first
riggers mass produced. They looked fast in their day.
Anyone have any pics of those boats?
