Paasche is good, Badger is good, and Iwata is also good but much higher quality. Dual-action airbrushes give you more freedom over the control of air and paint flow, but are usually slightly more complicated to clean (Though there are some single-action airbrushes that use the same design with a simpler trigger mechanism). You can do a good job with a single-action airbrush, but for a quality one you'll spend almost as much as a double-action brush. This is definitely a case of "buy cheap and buy twice".

Color cups are a matter of preference. Faskolor is relatively thick, so you might like an airbrush with a cup built in, for gravity feed. I like bottles because I swich colors a lot for scale models, and I can just toss the cap into a cup of water and use another one rather than cleaning both the airbrush and cup between colors. You can either car airbrush tops for Faskolor bottles or put the paint into all new bottles (Which I do).

-I have a Paasche VL and it has worked well if you keep it clean. It's not hard, just a little tedious to take it apart and clean it in between colors. Badger, Testors, and Hobbico also make similar brushes for a similar price. If you have a Michael's or AC Moore near you, you can get them for 40% off, which comes to a little cheaper than mail-order.

- Parma recommends 30-40 psi, but I have been able to get it to spray OK with the 25psi compressor I have (I also build models so I bought it for that).

- I like Faskolor, but the other brands should work well too. I haven't tried Tamiya's or Pactra's acrylics, but Pactra's lacquer works well; I just don't use it because I want to avoid the chemicals and thinner.

- To use liquid mask you just brush on some heavy coats, trim it with a sharp hobby knife, and then paint. It peels off like tape when you are done.

- Harlequin effect?
