What do you consider to be "big waves"? Here on the St Lawrence and Lake Ontario 2-3 foot waves are normal during the days...mornings and late afternoon into the evenings is the calmest.

2-3 ft is large in any book. My take is there's a difference between chop & swells. Chop is generally harder because the waves are closer together making the turn around difficult. Swells such as from a normal boat wake are spaced out and a little easier to get a good line to launch off. Though I've never hit one over 2' & it was a rocket! Give it a try and let us know how it goes:)

Depends on boat size, but 2-3ft is big even in the MHZ 104" mono. Pack the nose with 2 part foam, waterproof the radio, and tell us how it goes.

Ya, i 3rd ammend that one. 2-3ft... thats friggen huge man! Think... a regular 21ft boat that hits that stuff even gets a little banged up. Our 21ft bayliner at the puget sound takes a good beating on about 3ft shop. But if you are planning on running your boat in it, go all balls out man!!! but get video incase something crzy happenedS!!!!

3ft... do you mean from like crest to troff??????

I guess I should have specified on how I was told to judge wave size. Some people measure high point to low point and some measure high point to high point. I was told that they should be measured from peak to peak. So with that, a 2 foot wave would be about 8-12 inches?? from high point to low point......I have rarely ever seen the water so rough that it would be dangerous for a small craft but it does get pretty bad at times....it can get really rough during the Poker Runs :) :)
...hmmm. Measure the wave in relation to the size of the boat. Use a little thought, and compare that size relationship to a 'full sized' boat. That'll get you in the ballpark as to what's large or not. Then there's the 'fudge factor' that you have to deal with when dealing with any R/C boat and what it's supposed to do/behave. A sort of scale tug boat will be able to handle much larger waves than a speed boat usually can. Bet you can figure out why too! (Hint: the word speed.)

Yeah, on the 4th there was a party and all the NICE boats came to it. I think there was somewhere around 20 of them. There was 3-4 really nice cats, and the rest were bajas, fountains, and nice boats like that. When the party was over they all just took off, talk about loud:D

The 1000 Islands Poker Run is the biggest poker run in North America in both size, ie boats entered, and distance. There will probably be 150 boats again this year ranging from 27 feet up to 53 feet. And, of course, the King of the 1000 Islands, Mr Bill Tomlinson with his 46 foot twin turbine Skater MY WAY
:) :) :) :)
There is a cat at lake powell that has twin v12's and the sweetest paint job I have ever seen. There is an american flag painted on the front of one of the sponsons and it looks like a real flag draped over it.:D
