I boil the parts in RIT fabric dye. Just follow the instructions for dyeing nylon fabric, add salt, boil longer (20-30 min), etc. This should give you good results.

KEEP WATER IN THERE! If you don't, you could have some plastic soup, you really need to watch the water level

Caution!!! some plastics will warp, may I suggest bringing the water to a boil with the dye in it, then remove it from heat, then place the parts in the water completely submerged.
Check the parts from time to time for the desired color.
We died a set of Clodbuster rims & they turned out to be clown wheels by the time they were fully colored.
More heat may not be a good thing.

I forgot to mention, Vinegar will set the dye in fabrics, I wonder if it works on plastics too?

drtracer...don't worry about the cage getting warped. Just boil the water set on low heat and let it soak for alil bit. I did my cage the same way but I found a one inch deep baking pan to work better for the size of the cage.

boil water at low heat?

212 degrees isn't low heat fellas!

I doubt you'll be able to dye your cage, unless it's nylon.

regular ABS or Styrene doesn't like to be boiled...it would rather get mushy and melt.

To change the color of your cage...go to walmart and grab a spray can of automotive spray primer...clean your cage and prime it with the automotive primer.

Then pick up your favorite color of Pactra paint and use it on the cage.

I had a Clodbuster body that was painted with pactra and the paint was durable! Brake cleaner wouldn't remove the paint from the body...niether would EZ-off! I finally used nitro fuel to get the paint off..lol

if the cage hes talking about is a custom works ya it will dye cause its a nylon. I have had no proble, with this type of color dyeand have done well over a dozen without problem. If I wasn't sure I would attempt to try for a fact that the cage is about $60 a pop.
