I want to make my savage competely color coordinated. I'm going for a black/yellow theme to it and need some advice on which parts could be certain colors and where I might be able to purchase them.

The reason the exhaust line tube is a different color is because the gold colored tubing for some odd reason, melts when next to the pipe.

The main things I want gone is the purple color. So i'm looking for:
-Bulkhead lower plates
-Exhaust coupling
-Engine Heat Sink head
-Engine/Tranny mount (I know there are a bunch out there but I'm looking for either a yellow or black one)

Any help would be apprieciated.

The line that melts on your exhaust is probably not silicone, but rather clear plastic line (most weedeaters and blowers use this type) You should throw it out and use all yellow SILICON fuel and pressure lines. Trust me, rubber and plastic (or any petroleum based solid) will dry out and crack or melt when exposed to the nitromethane in our fuels.
On the Purple aluminum parts, you can soak them with Easy-Off Oven Cleaner to remove the anodizing. They'll polish up real fast with a Dremel (if you don't leave the Oven Cleaner on long enough to corrode and pit the surface). You can also just sand them with 220 grit paper taped to the bench (to get REAL straight lines) and then clear them. They'll look machined and clear ano'd that way. If you want to get crazy ( probly won't work so hot with yellow) sand and then spray them with transparent candy (blues and dark reds look best). They'll have a hi-tech show look to them if done carefully.
Check out home powdercoating kits as well. You can do engine cases, shock springs, chassis plates, anything that will hold up to the heat of baking the powdercoat. Also, the rubber dip for tool handles comes in colors and lasts for a good while. Also protects whatever you dip in it from nicks and scratches. Great for grab handles and susp. arms. Good luck and let us see it Blingin'!!!! Later........................torque

Doesn't GPM make black anodizd parts? Or if you can't find what ypurlooking for, clear wouldn't look to bad.

unique color combo havent seen that before. here are some gold parts. body mount (http://www.gpmracing.us/index.cgi?partnumber=GPMA22604&c=129) and 3 racing makes gold heat sink dont have a link yet hope it helps. 3 racing has heat sink (http://www.3racing.com.hk/) just look under optional parts. also imex (http://www.imexrc.com/TEMAXX_RIMS_NEW2.htm) makes gold rims.

I saw in a recent magazine that a product called "Greased Lightning" does an excellent job of removing anodizing. It says on the container that it should not be used on aluminum, but the writer said it worked fine and didn't damage anything. I think maybe the warning was because you need to use it in a well-ventilated area and use rubber gloves. He said it works better than Easy Off.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I might just buy a second set of bumper plates so I could paint them yellow and then clear coat them. But that would probably be only for show. I would like to do these things right now but I'm flat broke. I've been saving up for a trip to the Philippines so I won't have money till after the summer and I won't even be in the same hemisphere as my truck for a while. :( I want to bring it along though because there is a sweet track in Manila. http://www.hpiracing.co.jp/contents/hpichallenge/2004/Philippines/Philippines0411/img/cource.jpg
If I do bring my truck, I'll be sure to snap some pics.

I came back from a great vacation and just found out that I made August 2005's Pick of the Month on Hpi's website (http://www.hpiracing.com/index2.htm).
It's a first for me so I'm pretty stoked.

I'm still gonna put more on my truck but I'm flat broke with the start of a new school year.

Hey Kuya (big brother),

Congrats on being HPI's PICK OF THE MONTH? How was your vacation?

My vacation was great, didn't get to go to the track. I thought the cars and trucks would be cheaper so I would pick a few and bring them back. Turns out, they're the same price there as here; added with that the Philippines is a 3rd world country and our money blows over there, only a small handfull of people own R/C cars and trucks.

Nice clean truck, now take the little queen out and scuff her up and get her real dirty.

I would except that on the same day that I took that picture, I sideswiped my truck into the rear bumper of a Dodge Caravan thus ripping the body in half. I figured it would get ripped in the weakest part of the body (where the pseudo roll bar is).

It's been a while but I finally got one

http://2000.homestead.com/files/pic/heatsink.jpg

3racing has been out of stock for the longest time so I went searching and found that SKmotion (http://www.SKmotion.com) has one. Mixed with some Tamiya zipties (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXETN1) and I'm set

I got some shock socks (yellow) coming in soon for the winter months. I've been looking into the rubber dip and thinking about dipping my shock mounts and body mounts but then I'd have to do some shaving to make sure it'll fit on the truck. And in the meanwhile, I've been tearing up the snow and mud, so much so that I scratched up my gold rollbar pretty fierce (going to get another one for picture purposes)

as for wheels, I'm thinking of just taking some Hpi 8 spokes (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJLF7&P=7) and painting up a cool gold/black scheme.
