man it was a blast with .28 wasp, it had good low and high end speed. the only problem is the turns im not getting enough turning radius. i have the stock radio turned on full. is the HPI Cam Type Servo Saver/Throttle Return Spring Set any good for this and any mods? thanks
p.s i think i might need tires too because the ones on there are stock but i still get good traction

yea go with a hpi 8 spoke rim and get the hpi dirt bonz that will make ur turning alot better the stock tires are just heavy but the dirt bonz are really good

will this help it turn sharper?

Also a 5 cell 6volt hump pack & better steering servo are good upgrades if you intend to race your Savage.

have a pack but what kind of servo because i heard metal servos tend to miss up your radio and i already have enough glitching

First of all you need to get rid of the stock wheels and tyres if you are running on them as far to heavy and bulky.
Go for some offset wheels which will make the truck 1" wider front and rear also helps stables truck better in cornering and either dirt bonz or Hobao block tread i would personally go for hobao as these tryes are used for all surface and have a good grip and wear all round. I race my sav 25ss and i use nothing else but these tyres and we run on multi surfaces.
As for your servos if you are running on stock servos unfortunally the turning circle wil lnot be very good at all due to slow response and not enough torque.Depending on how much money you have got and what to spend i would gp for th hitec645mg for throttle/brake this will be more than enough and work well with throttle/mod linkage set.
As for steering i run on Bluebird servo at the moment why im awaiting for ko pro servo i think you would and could get away with the Bluebird 620mg servo and the torque and spped on this will be more than enough they are around £25 i think.I do not now who has told you about mg servos inteferring with radio but this is not true at all as i run normal servos mg servos and digital and had no interference problems what so ever of the servos .
If you have got a failsafe fitted and a return throttle spring there are no worries anyway if you pick up any form of interference as the failsafe cuts in and car will stop and idle .

the metal servos i read it in car action when they did that article on digital servos. will be able to get a fail safe in a couple of week but i have a question on the return throttle spring, what spring and where do i put it? i bought one of these http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDLJ4&P=ML and no luck on where to put it.

u put those springs around ur head conectiong to ur manifold it keeps it attached
i think the one u need for ur throttel is shorter and it just attaches right to the carb

The springs you have bought from tower hobbies are the exhaust manifold springs that hold the exhaust header on.The ones i am on about are thinner and shorter and the one end hooks around the main carb and the other on the sliding carb there is a nobbly bit where the throotle linkage connects to on carb thats where they fit i am not sure if you can buy these seperatly as i could not find one.I had to buy it as a complete thing Part NO;86001e but it comes all complet as a linkage rod set.
The exhaust manifold spring are to thick and to strong if you try to use these it will leave your carb fully open so do not use them .

i have the original return spring that came with the truck but it keeps the carb closed, so whats the next best thing?

i think that there is a screw that u can set to adjust that so it will stay open a little but why would u want ur carb to stay open all the way anyway its suppose to close when u let off the throttle

If it is the original return throttle spring then you should have no problems what so ever with the car sticking fully open.If this is the case i would say that your settings are causing the carb to stay open but i cannot honestly say without seeing the truck with my eyes.
The idea is that the return throttle keeps the carb closed and when you open on full throttle via tranny if there is any interference or the truck goes out of control(RUNAWAY) the return throttle reacts and closes the carb down so the truck should stop and just idle.

no no no the throttle spring keeps it closed not open. i think my servo cant take it. BTW back to the steering question is there some kind of mod i could use to get tighter turns?
savagemachine

Yes there is a mod have you got the cam servo saver already fitted to your truck or not if so this will give you quicker turning

Try Jes he sells them and normally next day delivery
www.JESpares.com
www.apexmodels.co.uk
www.modelsport.co.uk
Any of these sell the hpi cam servo saver and with this 1 you can alter the tension you are applying to the spring on to the servo saver they are alot better than a normal servo saver

You can also go for harder coil overs on the back and or thicker oil in the rear shocks. I run a Raptor an had the sam problems. I changed tires, shock springs (coil overs), Servo and the oil in my shocks and to it turns like crazy - also adjust your driving style a bit, I brake then quickly accelarate and "drift" it through the corners ....
My 2c worth
Bu the Way - how is the Wasp28, I'm thinking of buying one but heard alot of good and bad things about it - how will you rate it

well first off it was a pain to tune and never got it right
second the engine block cracked by the backblate
third sent it back and did more than what had expected, they replaced the block piston/sleeve, just abought everthing except the head and the carb. they even set the carb for me and everthing was free
then they told every one there was a leak with the wasp exaustgasket. so they told us to use the stock savvy gasket instead
and now everything is better than ever.
